Ftse IG FTSE trading is traded on the futures market. This means you can trade to the US close as the UK closes the US Indices are factored in to give a futures price. Even during the day IG trades futures which are very close to the underlying market but you don't trade the exact market price.

You can buy FTSE annual which expires in 2010. This leaves you plenty of time. I personally belive we will finish the year around 4400 on the FTSE 100 but will head back to test 3800 or 3500 before the summer.

I started with 2k and set up a site to follow my trades Financial spread betting diary trading FTSE 100, S&P and Dow Jones. but quickly found out that you need over 5k to cover margins. If I was doing it again I may start with 2k to see what the various providers offer but once I started trading 5k.

Open up an account and trade. Don't quit your day job but start slow. I have been spread betting now for 2 years and while I'm making money I look at the first three years as an excersise in retaining equity. If I can build up slowly then I may make a larger investment with more time and...

I think most people make a decent living spreadbetting but unless you have a large amount to trade its hard to make millions. Takes money to make money. Its too ease slag off the IGs of this world. It comes down to the individual and if they are a bad trader there is little IG can do.

I like your style. I should have locked in profits last night on FTSE shorts as it dropped to 4130. It's back up today at 4215 and showing strength. It's only time before we head below 4000.

I trade FTSE contracts and you could trade FTSE 100 annual with no roll over costs. In general I hold for 2 - 4 weeks and have defined entry and exit points. I am willing to hold for 2 months or more and have held for longer so it does work. I don't day trade and always take a longer term view...

I recently discovered StockTwits.com - Real Investors. Real Ideas. Real Time. which uses the popular Twitter / trading2k While it is mostly US traders I found it really useful. Does anyone use these and are there other similar services out there?
