Thanks. Although why do you say it is easier and safer to trade ETF or ADRs listed in the USA or UK. Surely that opens up other risks, rather than safety. If you hold the actual stock then you are not exposed to currency movements e.g. US dolar denominated EFT/ADR v Indian Rupee. Does this...

In theory only. There are no UK stockbrokers that can actually buy and sell Indian BSE and NSE listed stocks for clients, or if there are, no-one knows of one. So far at least...

But they only trade Indian stocks for Indian residents or Indian non-residents with an Indian Tax Number. India changed its regulations to allow non-Indian overseas investors to trade their stocks. But no UK brokers seem able :(
