Brokers chasing after their clients following the "Black Swan"

Not necessarily correct. They are working for themselves and their country rather than fx punters.

Quit my job to trade - inspiration

That would be very interesting to see if you're brave enough to publish it!

Quit my job to trade - inspiration

I would caution against this too. I really don't think you've had long enough to know if it will work. A few months or years of profits can easily be wiped out in a few minutes. There is something rather comforting about a monthly pay cheque. You many not enjoy your current job but I'd put...

    Personal EURCHF losses

Presumably anyone using IG (or indeed any other platform) agreed to the terms and conditions. Presumably they also didn't really read them or think about them - who does?! Fairly early on in the summary of IG terms is the following: Our policy cannot provide a guarantee, however, that when...

    Personal EURCHF losses

I presume you're referring to the practice of traders actively either trying to knock out stops or prevent certain levels trading due barrier options they have in place, for example. It would be very hard to prove what was, say, a natural selling interest and what was someone trying to force...

    Personal EURCHF losses

Possibly true although that poses an asymmetric risk similar to that which the world's banks have enjoyed. Have a punt. If it goes well, you're quids in. If it goes (really) badly, someone else mops up. Surely not a good message to present?

    Personal EURCHF losses

There were prices in EBS at various levels because people leave bids and offers in, way off market, all the time. These were indeed filled. But the idea that a handful of trades at any level on the way down represented any form of liquidity, and that because these happened the whole market...

    Personal EURCHF losses

Liquidity providers almost certainly have no "responsibility". I work in the interbank FX market and was sitting on the desk at the time. I can tell you there was zero liquidity in the half hour after the SNB announcement. I am sorry but people sitting watching these things on computer...

    Personal EURCHF losses

It really is a shame people have lost really large chunks of cash on this. But I just don't see how most people can hope to claim the money back. If you had a guaranteed stop, and the terms of agreement say that stop will be honoured, you have a case. I am sure a lot of the spread betters...
