    Are CFDs in SIPP dead?

Sippdeal told me that Selftrade and Jarvis are thinking about entering the SIPP market and that I should contact them. I think IG have withdrawn becausesome SIPP holders have got their accounts negative to the tune of of several milion and IG can not recover it.

    Who do you recommend?

"Getting filled" is the term for having your trade accepted. What he means is that you are sitting there and the market starts moving up (or down) quite quickly so you think "oh there a good move here, I'll have some of that" and press the buy (or sell) button, e.g. when the price is 4250. A...

    ETX Capital

Hi again, As said, the transaction costs are too great. I would recommend you download a copy of NinjaTrader and get some historical FTSE (or your instrument of choice) data. Try implementing some strategies and backtesting them. It is easy to come up with a strategy that is profitable but...

    ETX Capital

I looked at ETX during their "Beat the Broker" campaign but couldn't find any good reason to use them. I have accounts with Capital, CMC, ShortsAndLongs, and Cantor: Capital: Use this the most. My favourite platform for everything except shares (only because I like S+L more). Don't know why so...

How do Spread betting firms make money?

They probably do only slightly worse than 50/50 to begin with, it's what you do after the trade has been opened that dictates whether you win or lose overall. I reckon averaging losers and snatching winners is the main reason why most lose in the end. That behaviour has certainly been...

IG Markets stop doing CFD SIPPs

Got a letter from IG this morning saying that "we have made a commercial decision not to offer our CFD service to SIPP accounts" and that I have until 30th April to close existing positions. Not that bothered as was thinking of going to futures anyway, but does anyone know why they have done...

    Shortsandlongs

I opened an account yesterday. Good: Nice website Tight spreads (on shares at least) Guaranteed stops FOC. Bad: No charts, but not a problem if you have an account with someone else Only Market and Stop orders, ie no Limit open, OCOs etc Unknown history so only give them enough money to cover...

    Historical Data?

I also used the Z data. When I imported in into NT I found that there were instances of duplicate rows pertaining to the first minute of the day on a handful of days, which I just removed. For 1 minute data there are over 800,000 rows so there would have to be hundreds, if not thousands of...

    Historical Data?

Successful at what...acquiring the data or putting it to good use? The previously mentioned site will sort you out with whatever you need. Then download NinjaTrader and you will have all the charts, strategies and backtests you could ever need.

    Have I wasted my money?

A super post from lurkerlurker there. Just in case you were doubting his advice, please let me have an AA moment here and tell you that I too "invented" a similar strategy a few months ago, ie buying 1pp every 50 point fall on FTSE100 and sitting it out, specualting that it wouldn't fall more...

does anyone know anything about spread betting training courses

Regardless of whether currencies are your thing, this is 10 quid well spent for any trader: FXCM Power Course This really introduced me to the concept of going for bigger moves, risk/reward, and most importantly, only taking entries on your own terms. In fact it has fundamentally changed the...
