did you read my post at the bottom of page 2? and why are you so keen to avoid discussing this? I think you basically know you're doing something a bit silly which is bad for your P&L but that you wish to continue doing so, as you aren't ready to confront the fragile mental state that prevents...

The function is there because some people are so set against realising losses that they would rather double their transactions costs than close a position, and of course IG would be foolish to turn such business away.

I know it wasn't strictly the point of the thread, but it's probably worth considering why you're actually doing it, as it's having an adverse impact on your bottom line, and per my previous post there is really no need for it. Regards.

but why not just allow the positions to net out? say your general stance is bullish, and you're long the ftse in 1 lot. then, intraday, you want to be short at a given moment. why not just temporarily close out your long rather than opening a short against it? all you are doing is doubling...

You sound suspicious Ross. Do you doubt that there are people trading that sort of size, and with cash deposits of that nature (and larger) with SB companies?

:lol: Considering £2 is the minimum size with IG i doubt it is the average don't you? There are guys out there that do £5k a point of dow through SB. That is a fact.
