I actually started my career as an electronics engineer (B.Sc) and later served in the British Armed Forces (cipher tecnician). During that time, under the Army Education Programme, I gained my Ph.D in computing and mathematics, (later known as computer Science) via correspondence course and as an External Student for the exam. Oh how we "lived" in the 60s!

After completing military service, I worked for a London-based Private Bank (FOREX) developing software for their UNIX computer/server systems; That was back in 1972. The FOREX Market developed in the 1970s when the floating exchange rates were re-established as a cash, inter-bank or inter-dealer market. The bank in question had connections with the Swiss and German maarkets.

Hence, in 1988, working under contract, I conducted similar programming for the XETRA DAX. At that time ... since the time of its introduction, the DAX was the only representative of what in subsequent years became a family of stock market indexes in Germany. This is where I became passionately involved with Technical Analysis and derivatives trading.

In 1998 I quqlified as a Quant ... yes, I like financial mathematical modelling! Sad man ... sad man. In 1998-99 I qualified as a Further and Adult Education Teacher (Cert. FTAE) and went back into academia as a Lecturer/Tutor until recently. I have actively traded privately since 1999 to the current period.

Oh ... and in case you are wondering ... yes, I am an old dog; my 65th birthday is in February 2009. How do I keep so actively young? My wife Fiona is 24 years younger than me! And I actively trade the DAX to this day.

Hill Walking (I have two very large breed dogs), Cycling with my 3 young daughters, reading, Chess, Rithmomachia, Pattern Drafting for my wife and daughters.
