Yeah I've found FuturesBetting - Financial Spread Betting Homepage. They have some kind of automation system, will investigate further during the week. The way I trade could be automated 90%, with 10% discretion. However, I suspect its that discretion that turns a profit and avoids big loosers.

Is anyone aware of a spread betting company that has some kind of API?

Yes CMC seem to spend all their money on marketing, and need to invest in some better technology. The inability to place a trailing stop is obviously a business decision mind you, it can't be that hard to implement in practice.
