    Open Interests

i'm pretty sure this isn't what you're asking as it's futures only... but will dump it here in case someone else searching for open interest finds it useful. http://liffe.com/data/dfut090416.txt FTSE 100 future is 3/4 way down, open interest is far right column, it gives the OI change to...

    Psychological resistance ??

    New to trading!

in that case your first post doesn't make sense. it sounds to me like you were trading ftse index on cmc and could have made 700 ticks on a 2 pound bet if you hadn't panicked. I must have missed the crash! Was it between 10:15 and 10:45? i went to breakfast....

    New to trading!

that's pretty unlucky, you're purely betting on the direction, buying and selling is a way of getting your size on and off. It doesn't matter if you go long or short when spread betting, nor does it matter in futures. I remember trying to get my head round this... Finally, the ftse range today...

    For those that are self-employed...

In my experience, the most widely understood term for a trader, who is trading their own account, is "fund manager". If someone then asks "who do you work for?" you can elaborate by telling them you trade your own fund.
