    Query regarding BREXIT changes

I note that the email actually specifies the date of 31st of January 2020, which was indeed the end of the BREXIT deadline in the event of no deal between Britain and the EU. "As you may already know, the Brexit transition period for the United Kingdom will end on 31 December 2020. Due to the...

    Query regarding BREXIT changes

It's a CFD account and I've had it over five years. I've emailed them to query their actions, since none of the other brokers with whom I have accounts (Charles Stanley, LCG, Corespreads) have done this.

    Query regarding BREXIT changes

Hi, I have received an email from my broker (SpreadCo) informing me that due to the changes resulting from BREXIT, they will close my positions and my account on the 2nd of Feb 2021. I am based in France. Seems odd to me, as I am not aware of any regularetory changes taking place at the end...

If you knew the exact date of a black swan event...

I think a 'naked' options position is to be short the contracts, not long. If you buy the puts, the max loss is the cost of the option (s). Being short calls, on the other hand, exposes the seller to potentially unlimited loss. As to the strikes, maybe an ATM put ?

    ESMA margin changes

They told me 'your internal trade history with us doesn't meet the first criteria...' Not sure what that means. To be honest I haven't taken it further as the changes haven't really affected my trading.

    ESMA margin changes

I contacted my broker and applied for professional status on the grounds that: a) I spent several years working in the City, on equity funding systems, risk calculation & options. b) I have made over 600 CFD trades in the previous 4 quarters. Well into 7 figs. Nevertheless, I have been...

If you knew the exact date of a black swan event...

You would use options for maximum leverage. Actually I have experience of such an event... A few years ago I was bearish on the FTSE... it was summer and it was pretty elevated, so I bought a small FTSE put position. A few days later (I think it was less than a week), I watched the markets...

    ESMA margin changes

Well the ESMA regs include a 50% rule... 'In the event that your account valuation falls below 50% of your margin amount, all positions on Spread Betting account will be closed in line with ESMA’s 50% stop out rule'
