Are there any brokers that offer free DDE feed for forex

Metatrader will provide a free demo account and has a DDE link as well. There are a number of difference (smaller) traders that use the Metatrader platform. It should be good enough for getting data with which to test your idea.

    Pattern Trading

Hi Yangs, I am quite interested in what you are doing. Had looked at the tradingpatterns software once before and have heard favourable comments from other users, but didn't have a lazy USD1200 to test the idea (the demo is useless). Anyway, I thought I would post to show that you're not alone...

    GBP 2 pip spread!!!!

Yes, but the commission is 0.00002 of the currency trading value, e.g. 1,000,000 of EURUSD is USD20.00. I'd rather pay commission and have a 1 pip spread at these rates, than lose 2 - 3 additional pips in spread. 1M EURUSD is $100 pip from memory so I lose $200 in spread or $40 in commission..

    I'm doing great!

Hi wwatson1, Don't disagree, particularly considering it has appreciated 50% from its lows in the last couple of months. Would've been nice to fill up at 0.80....

Hi John, I've been following your journal with a great deal of interest and congratulations on your results. Interested in ETS, since it appears that the market pulled out the ugly stick. Would you have had a stop loss below support at around 1.15? I know the market would have gapped through...

    FTSE 100 - March 2005

Destiny, Ex-dividend dates can be calculated when the company announces their results and the dividend. If you hold a stock short on ex dividend date, then you have to PAY the dividend which usually at least cancels out the profit you would have made by shorting the stocks.

    Mr Whippy

Maybe because the DOW is only 30 stocks? The 100 or 500 stocks in the FTSE or S & P might 'smooth out' the volatility via negatively correlated industries. I'm in Aus so might try this on the ASX20 or ASX50 to test the theory out on the weekend.

    Recommended Trading System Software

You may wish to check out Amibroker as well. Has 3 yahoo groups for support, has a comprehensive range of functions with more added regularly and is US$149 or US$229 for the real time version.

    Here's another one

I coded this up in Amibroker with similar results. (Still playing with it slightly and so will post backtest report once it's finished. FetteredChinos, you may want to check your spreadsheet. The first one you posted has some holes in the data that are skewing your results. (Occasionally...
