Interactive Brokers: 'Forex P/L Details' statement doubt - Proceeds in GBP on a sale of US stock

Interactive Broker's support is usually really bad, they barely reply and when they do, a lot of times they don't even answer the question. In this case, they didn't even reply and I had to file my tax return before that. We don't quite know how those IB reports get generated or what they...

Interactive Brokers: 'Forex P/L Details' statement doubt - Proceeds in GBP on a sale of US stock

I wrote support a few times but they've not clarified yet. They looked into a different trade the 1st time. But after having a further look, I don't fully understand that ' Forex P/L details' section but I think in my case it's not even applicable, as in, I'm borrowing the USD money from the...

Interactive Brokers: 'Forex P/L Details' statement doubt - Proceeds in GBP on a sale of US stock

Hi guys, I've been talking for several months with my accountant and Interactive Brokers about a big mismatch in some tax reports and having a further look this weekend I've found the figures that are causing this problem. Wondering if any of you could have a clue about how Interactive...

Is it possible for a stock to start trading after 09:30 in NYSE exchange?

I see, I had never noticed it before and as I saw prices printing from 09:30 to 09:31:47 it just seemed as if the stock was trading as normal, but the broker mentioned that those might be premarket prices, as the stock didn't started trading that day until almost 2 minutes later. I'll have a...

How to hedge currency risk with Interactive Brokers?

If you've converted the GBP balance and that's a large amount. The daily currency movement there is much higher than what would be on the P&L only, isn't it? Since I asked here a few year ago, I did what @JackRab and I kept it simple, meaning that I kept the balance in GBP, paid daily interests...

Is it possible for a stock to start trading after 09:30 in NYSE exchange?

Hi, I had a pending order on NYSE:NOW to be triggered when the market opened on Thursday 20th.June.2019. My broker is Interactive Brokers (IB). I started checking the price in TradingView, FreeStockCharts and Google Finance at 09:30 that day and even though the order should have been executed...

Any idea how to hedge GBP.USD with Interactive Brokers (IB) without borrowing USD?

The situation is getting more complex now because I'm using one of the accounts supported by the UK government to help with savings and retirment and there, they've got certain rules. One of them being that brokers cannot offer multi-currency accounts in them and all cash has to be always in...

Any idea how to hedge GBP.USD with Interactive Brokers (IB) without borrowing USD?

Hi, I've got 2 investing accounts in GBP in UK, one with IB and another outside. The one outside just allows you to keep the funds in GBP (although you can invest in US stocks) so I wanted for example to invest 10K GBP in US stocks from the first account (which will just get that amount...

Trying to understand slippage: 1.6% with Interactive Brokers.

I cannot see the millisecond when they were filled, but it was 1 second later. As there's just one fill of 100 shares at 09:31:25 and the rest 615 shares are at 09:31:26 In Times & Sales, I can see that there were a lot of bidders at higher prices, so I'm not sure why there was this large...

Trying to understand slippage: 1.6% with Interactive Brokers.

Not sure about how their routing works but every now and then I'm getting pretty bad slippages. I was reading about this, not sure if it's related to the slippage but I was assuming that when my Stop order was triggered IB would send it as a market order and that's it. But now I read about this...

Trying to understand slippage: 1.6% with Interactive Brokers.

IB said that they routed my orders to ISLAND and IEX, but these are the exchanges that I can see with prices of 18.30-18.45, so having my fills at 18.15 seems to not match the data *IF* IB sent my order as a market order to the market. Not sure if their 'smart' routing works in a different way...

Trying to understand slippage: 1.6% with Interactive Brokers.

It was a normal Stop order with stop price at 18.47, after triggered I was understanding that it would be transmitted at the market and sold at the best bid price available at the time, and for what I could see in the Times and Sales data there were so many traders bidding at higher prices...

Trying to understand slippage: 1.6% with Interactive Brokers.

It's not the 1st time that it's happened so wondering if I'm not understanding something or sending my orders in the wrong way as I'm suffering quite large slippages so I'd like to see if you guys can think why this could be. Last time was with QNST, where on Thursday 7th I had a Stop Loss...

Taxes: required HMRC forms? and do we need to enter every single trade over the year?

Thanks guys, really helpful posts! I didn't know we could just put the main figures in some boxes without detailing every single transaction. I think you might be right there and maybe if they do that, the tax return could have some benefit... but I doubt is going to be any close the expense...

Taxes: required HMRC forms? and do we need to enter every single trade over the year?

No, I'm trying to see which forms I'll need to complete (for the personal tax return and the company annual account) and how the information is entered there, as it seems the accountant wants to charge around £1400 extra for completing those 2 returns...
