I would like to find a way to automate stock trading. I would feel much better only trading instruments with 10%+ annual dividend and monthly payouts. Then have a system that day trades them but with wide stop loss and target, because holding is winning too in those cases. Anyone know of good...

I have created a dozen or so working systems, but once I found enough data to test it on I noticed that they all average 10-20% a year if you backtest far enough. For me, that wasn't worth having my PC on 24/7 and worrying about it. I can make that by trading stocks in a much more peaceful way.

Ahh, just kind of lost interest in it. I believe my target was 2 or 3x the stop. I could try the mega-target though...I'll let you know if i do.

I will say this, when I tested my system from 1999-2010, it's not successful in some years. Not saying 3 ducks isn't good. Just saying that attempting to hard code it didn't work for me. It might be good to have an expert to "warn" you about signals but I don't think it's worth automating...

Yeah that's a good idea. i'd been concerned only with trying to cut the losses when drawdown time came, but really during that time there is not much I could have done. i'll look at adding in some units during profitable periods

Turns out my own broker had tick data on their site somewhere a tech support guy gave me the link. Also, after trying that, I downloaded metaquotes data to try. So I got a good round of testing in. Forward testing matches what I show so far but I would need to test it for years to ever know...

All systems will fail at some point. Drawdown is based on the size of the sample. Larger the sample, larger the drawdown. The key is what you do with the money while you have it. You know that at some point with in the next 5-10 years the account is going to go on a slide so just take out profit...

Only 1 of my systems has passed the test of 10 years 6000 trades. I finally got some more tick data to run good tests. Over the large selection of trades and scenarios it's unrealistic to think that many systems would make it. I had to trash 5 Expert Advisors and keep just this one. What I did...

I've seen advertisements for FXCM claiming that their broker offers free Virtual Private Server hosting. My first thought is WTF? They are so confident in traders ability to lose that they offer this? But the fact is, I could use that service. Save me 17 bucks a month. Has anyone tried this...

tried this ea and then tried to fix it so it would turn profit. Not one penny on any of my attempts. No good logic from the code to use either. It was useless.

I like your style. Doesn't suck for me, I wouldn't feel reward in it if I did not create it. I would always worry, what if this one breaks, how will I develop another one. How many times will I be able to google up a winning system? You may be able to work that way, but it would bother me to...
