Quick and stupid question - if you were plotting a moving average on a Forex chart (or any other chart come to that), why would you want to "weight" the MA and what would be the potential advantage of looking at this instead of a simple moving average? Can anyone satisfy my curiosity?

Like I say, I'm a total beginer and I'm just trying to get my head around technical analysis - I'm looking at FTSE100 stocks. So, I'm just after something that will let me chart, add trend lines, display MA's, etc, etc. - You know, somthing that will help me learn the basics.
