In what ways can a lower US dollar contribute to inflation?

Actually it was said with tongue firmly in cheek, however upon reflection since the Hang Seng dumped large then rebounded to these stratospheric heights one of the reasons given was the relaxation of currency control allowing Chinese investors to invest "abroad". Needless to say the HSI has been...

In what ways can a lower US dollar contribute to inflation?

Hi Atilla Apologies but i can't seem to get my head around why the $ would lose it petro currency status, they are still going to be one of the major producers and users for a long time or am i missing the point? I agree though about the $ dump by Asia, if they haven't been already.

In what ways can a lower US dollar contribute to inflation?

Interesting......as no doubt lower $ = higher inflation, but then the stats have been relatively benign and its not as if the $ hasn't been weak for a while. However the weaker $ should lead to higher exports (esp.agri.) and that is what is driving the commodity prices post the cut and although...

The US dollar pegged to the yuan

Some very good points being made and although i haven't posted for a few days i have been following the discussion with interest and watching the markets reaction to yesterday's Fed statement i found quite revealing. They seemed to be at pains to point out the inflationary risk still remains but...

Hi Grant & Dispassionate Sorry it has taken a while to post, i just wasn't aware it was moving along and so much ground had been covered. The US dollar pegged to the yuan

Hi Grant Small point but i always thought stagflation was rising inflation and falling growth, if not negative GDP, the worst of both worlds so to speak, which at the moment the "great consumer" ie. USA, has the rising inflation and slowing growth, the problem, or balancing act, is to keep...

The US dollar pegged to the yuan

Being a "newbie" i hope this works............but i agree with you hence my " monetarily disadvantageous" comment earlier but to me the real question is not whether the politicians, whom lets face it know diddlesquat anyway, but rather the Fed and our good old BoE are taking a very passive...
