    Guide to Backtesting?

Greetings. I've been trying to back-test one of my strategies in Capital Spreads and it's not really been a fruitful endeavour - the functionality is too limited. Any suggestions as to where I might a more powerful back-tester? I have read that many people use Matlab but if I do that then I...

    Advice on Scalping Dax

@rawrschach I am inclined to agreed @anley I am trying to do that at the moment by reading Al Brook's 'Reading Price Charts Bar by Bar' although I am open to suggestions. I was also thinking about doing some back-testing on this but am unsure how to go about it. From what little I've read a...

    Advice on Scalping Dax

I've tried that approach but it appears I'm leaving too much money on the table i.e. I have less than 10 points by the time it reaches either the 80 or 20 but then it will shoot off and go up another 20+. I'm just wondering if there is a way to adjust the stochastic to reflect that e.g. At the...

    Advice on Scalping Dax

Thanks. I've begun to adjust to 2 min and use a stochastic oscillator to determine if the market is overbought or oversold. but it's not helping with the false dawn scenario which is eroding the bottom line. Once the thing goes over 80 or under 20 it in effect becomes useless. Any advice?

Your favourite market/ indicies/ anything to scalp?

Stick with 1/2 and learn how they tick. Once you've got one licked you can note down your findings and devise a mechanical operation in metaTrader or something. I tend to be for Euro/Dollar The proverb of "He who tries to catch two hares, catches none" is worth remembering.

FTSE 100 or the DAX for day trading?

Generally DAX isn't worth trading until after the FTSE opens (in terms of point movement). That being said I still prefer trading the DAX. There is a 'follow the leader' issue as the Dow tracks the DAX which tracks the FTSE until the American markets open properly after lunch. Although I don't...

    Dow Jones chart on MT4?

I know Alpari are thinking of adding indices to their MT4 Spreadbetting Platform. Beyond that, if FXCM offer Dow Jones, maybe if you send them a email they will add it/tell you how to access it?

What a complete and utter pillock

The important thing is to learn from your mistake and not repeat it.

    Advice on Scalping Dax

Greetings, I am relatively new to trading but have begun working on Dax scalp that works on the principle that: 1. Use 3 minute chart 2. 3 MA has crossed 6MA and 12 MA is in a positive gradient (reverse for selling) 3. 10 point stop loss 4. Exit when 3MA crosses 6MA (still not sure whether to...

Which multi-monitor PC for day trading?

Best One stop shop in the UK is Trading Computers & Multi Screen Arrays | Multiple Monitors They will do the whole thing, with various specifications mostly Intel based i3/i5/i7. Seems quite good if you are new to whole thing. As for laptops, Acer 8943G comes with 2.4Ghz/i5 +4GB/ memory +BluRay...

    Mac vs PC

Never really had anything against Macs except everytime I look at it there is something I can't do with it (lack of BluRay Playback, certain reference insert issues in Office for Mac, no native MT4 app for Mac [I think], certain video games either don't get transferred or there is a delay and...
