    The real costs of spreadbetting

Thanks for the replies guys, very useful! I had completely forgotten about the quarterly contracts. Does anyone know a spreadbetting firm that offers spreads on currency futures, like Yen, Euro and Swiss Franc? NB. I'm not talking about spot FX like EURUSD IG and CMC seem to do most of the...

    The real costs of spreadbetting

Hi guys, I've got a long term trading system that typically holds a trade for over 50 days, and am trying to understand what the true cost of spreadbetting a trade would be. For instance, if the trade lasts 50 days, and the spread is 2 pts, and I'm long, would my profit be: closing position...

Trend followers: how good has the last quarter been?

Hi Greg, This is an interesting question. I have been trading my Trend-based system since November 2008, and so far I have returned 23% from a win percentage of approx 30%. I have a proprietary indicator that I use, which is based upon several MAs and I too use an MA as my stop loss. I only...

    CMC Limit Order Slippage?

CMC have always been pretty fair to me. Once their dealing guide mis-priced Silver which caused me to lose 10* as much as I expected to. After a couple of phone calls they refunded the difference no complaints (about 900 quid). I still have an account with them and it is in profit. Their...

Help! Algorithmic System / Hedge Fund Start Up

I think that Hedge Funds don't have too many regulations because every investor has to be worth at least £1 million. Also, they have to be able to demonstrate a regular income of more than 200K PA for the past 2 years. I'm not sure Hedge Fund is the way to go on a startup, unless you're connected.

50 pips per day ? That would be awesome.. looks like you're well on track for this week! I think you could make a living on 50 pips per week !

    EUR/USD - Wednesday 22nd Oct

Yeah this feels great, especially as I missed the previous large EURUSD move. I'm trying to average 210 pips per winning trade on average, so this should help with that. But beyond that, I just trail a stop on the way down - if it rebounds I'll give away some profit but if it continues I'll...

    EuroDollar appears to have bottomed

I suppose it's easy to point this out now but EURUSD is at 1.2861 right now... a brave and unfulfilled prediction Vergis!

Market Correllation in Forex and Commodities

Just found this: Forex Correlation - Mataf.net It's imperfect (for example low correlation on GBP pairs due to Mervyn King's commentary today) but might be useful!

Market Correllation in Forex and Commodities

Hi, I'm trading a system that looks at both Forex and Commodities, and I'd like to avoid trading in closely correlated markets at the same time. One of my concerns is, for example with the any trade involving the US dollar, should I also avoid trading commodities as they are measured in US...

    Forex Profit Accelerator ??

It seems to involve a lot of trades - if you are paying a spread of 2 pips each trade, you might be better off holding the trades for longer, and reducing the impact of the spread on your profits.
