    Forex or Penny Stocks?

It’s up to you. I used to trade Forex but found it too volatile so started to look at individual stocks. It’s your choice really as everyone will have their own opinions/preferences.

Where to get the best leverage/credit? Currently with IG.

The higher margins are usually for more illiquid stocks. Otherwise the margin goes as low as 5%. Personally I think any less than this you're really trading dangerously as you can easily get into a margin call.

    Calculating equity in CFD account

I would say to call IG customer service and asked them to explain you in details.

    IG vs FXCM?

I'd say you'll see little difference between the two regarding execution. IG does have a nice mobile app if you're after that.

Recommended Broker for FTSE 100 Futures??

Berkeley Futures – not used myself, but know people who do.

New to forum, new to dealing

The names you have chosen are some of the highest yielding defensive stocks on the FTSE100 and your risk looks well spread. Dividends on shares are paid on the payment date and you have to hold the shares the day before they go ex-dividend (the day the share price drops in reaction). If you are...

Any DMA, ECN professional broker in UK?

Both IG and Accendo Markets offer DMA pricing for CFDs with the former offering just the platform and the latter offering platform + dedicated broker + research. Both allow you to see real-time market spread and depth for equities. In terms of charges, both very competitive. Lots of other CFD...

    New and wanting to learn

Hi Gary. You say you have a habit of having wider stops than limits. May I suggest considering more carefully every trade’s potential risk vs its potential reward. Being honest and acknowledging you won’t win every trade means your few winners have to make up for your likely many losers in order...

    Elliottwave13 Trading

I couldn’t agree more. If anyone’s system is that good, why would they offer it to the world and risk it becoming too successful and thus redundant? Surely you’d keep it to yourself to protect it and keep earning you all the money you desire. Maybe it’s not that perfect, eh? And in many cases it...

    Beginner Looking for some Opinions

It all depends how big you want to trade, how much you are prepared to lose/wanting to make on each trade. There’s no right or wrong, only you can decide what’s right for you. Research initially to see what your provider will charge for each trade then you can decide what you need to make to...

    Very newbie question..

It’s all about timing. Getting in on the way up and before a stock gains too much attraction and people start becoming sceptical of further gains. As Warren Buffet says, buy when others are fearful and sell when they are greedy. It’s easy to look back at GOOG, but why didn’t you put your money...

CFD/Spread Betting A Poor Mans Futures Trader

It’s true that SB is attractive from a tax point of view given that it is technically gambling, but it may not necessarily be for everyone. In some cases you may not be able to trade something via SB but you will be able to via CFDs as a leveraged alternative to the underlying. Also while SB...

Is CMC Market still a bad company to spread bet with?

All providers will have offer different things, which will in some cases not be attractive to you but may well be attractive to others. This is the reason so many use multiple providers depending on what they are trading. It also shows that you need to research who’s out there before just...

A good website for European stocks' Top Volume in real time

Real-time prices and volume are hard to get for free in Europe as the info itself is charged for by the relevant exchanges which report it. I’d suggest sighing up for a CFD account with someone like IG and, if you trade enough on each exchange (UK, FR, DE and ES) each month, the costs incurred...

Best Thread Other Side of the Screen

Don’t forget spreadbetting always involves an additional spread on top of the bid/ask price in the market (that’s how they make their money). If you want market prices you’ll need to use something like CFDs on which you can get Direct Market Access (DMA). Or You need to research to find the...
