Exporting Historical data from MT4 to Amibroker

Hello All, Is anyone currently using both Metatrader 4 (MT4) and Amibroker together for testing forex strategies and if so, have you ever exported historical data from MT4 into Amibroker? If you have, would you be willing to explain how you have done this? Any help really appreciated guys as...

    Advice on investment strategies

Hi Dealer, A FTSE ETF is definately an option worth considering because, as you say, its nicely diversified. However, from talking to him recently I think he would rather prefer to protect his profits as much as possible so opening a UK Bank Account (if it can be done easily enough) would...

    Advice on investment strategies

Thanks for the reply. As he resides in Australia I'm not sure how easy it would be for him to open a UK Bank Account from overseas. If its relatively straightforward, then this would definately be the simplest and easiest option.

    Advice on investment strategies

Hello All, I'm looking for some general advice on the following: A family member of mine who also lives in Australia has been investing in a couple of UK shares (via an Australian Broker) over the last year and although relatively new to "investing" has made a v.good return to date. He would...

    "Tight" spreadbetting company

I haven't used a Spreadbetting firm (Market Maker) for a number of years now so maybe they have improved as my early trading experience was anything but acceptable with them. I won't mention specific names..... Back then (i) wider spreads, (ii) the fact that you weren't involved directly in the...

    "Tight" spreadbetting company

IMO You want to trade through a broker which offers DMA. To my knowledge most Spread Betting firms are Market Makers, so should be avoided. Ensuring they offer DMA will be more beneficial for you in the long run rather than purely focusing on tight spreads........... Just my 2cents.....

penny stocks - (realy new question)

If you want excitment, take up Parachuting or Motor Racing.... If you want to actually make money then listen carefully to Shanghai's advice.... ... And if you're still unsure, then just to repeat, don't waste your time with Penny Stocks. Trading them is akin to taking a trip down to your...

    Moving averages

An interesting Question......... Firstly, I should make it clear that (i) my own focus is on "mechanical system design" and not discretionary trading, and (ii) I only trade Price and Volume relationships , so my answer is probably going to be biased towards this. I do use the occasional MA but...

    Moving averages

Can I ask why you are so hung-up on specific MA settings that are written in books? By all means learn about them from a generic standpoint but then use that learning and apply them to your particular situation. Just because a particular MA length/type works well on one particular chart/s...

DMA Trading - what are the benefits?

IMO A few reasons that are immediately obvious to me as to why DMA is preferred. 1. When you trade using a Market Maker you are trading the MM's "interpretation" of the underlying price so things like spreads can vary a lot more 2. Normally they will profit from their clients positions due to...

    Optimal Profit-taking

Trendie, Out of interest, would your own "positive edge" still work if you changed your strategy from (i) low win-rate / high R:R to (ii) high win-rate / low R:R, or vice versa? I would suggest that the two approaches are completely different. For example, with the former one needs to take...
