who should I give my hard earned to?

This article would seem to support the view that paper-trading can distort the real-world view of trading: http://www.fool.co.uk/news/comment/2004/c040805b.htm Still, I remain convinced that, used correctly, it can do more good than harm: unless you get ideas above your station

So who has the most trading knowledge?

There is one book that I consider a absolute must read: the bible (J Murphy A Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets). It isnt specific to the strategy you describe, but it does include everything a beginner should know.

Good spot Chartman: hadnt noticed the vol spike: it does seem a little conincidental that the highest vol spike since Mar 03 happened two days before the share price nosedived.. someones had their hand in the till? I must admit to be somewhat baffled by the whole BSY move yesterday: the...

    Scalping the Dow

Stictly speaking, choosing red or black to come up 12 times on the trot is approx 4000-1 (half that if you meant either red or black). Not easy, but I agree with the sentiment..

who should I give my hard earned to?

This is my point entirely: and maybe what I meant to say, or did so badly :o . I see no reason as to why any formal of continual testing cannot be beneficial, in some way. Even when applied through "a lack of confidence" (and it is really good to see above that so many positive, ballsy...

    BSY: BSkyB

What fun Ive had to day: managed to to accumulate 80 pts just following the swings on BSY. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside :cheesy:

who should I give my hard earned to?

Why? I just cant seem to get my head around the reasoning  Are you saying that a beginner would not be able to assess the results of any testing / correctly interpret the results into a meaningful conclusion? If so, that boils down to the strength of the TA: which is one of the...

who should I give my hard earned to?

It does seem to be sneered @ by those above: either that or the reasoning that a lack of confidence would trigger a short term move back into paper trading. But, I cant get my head around why any form of testing would be a bad thing under any circumstances. TA is concerned with the analysis of...

who should I give my hard earned to?

I shall only entertain you with more wild theories if you agree to give me my first pilots lesson: and I wanna have a pop at landing the beast too  On a serious note, it would seem that most "experieced" traders so far agree with your point. However, I think MT confessed a couple of...

who should I give my hard earned to?

This is exactly my point. Why do your guys even get 6 weeks? And why are they risk capped for a period afterwards? And why theorectically trade druing R&D? All I'm saying is that in whatever form it takes, and for whatever reason it is taken, practise, evaluation and reconciliation of...

who should I give my hard earned to?

I would agree that there is no "substitute" for using real money: just the same as there a flight simulator is no substitute for learning to fly a plane. However, your argument seems to be that paper trading is a completely worthless exercise: and it is here where we disagree :frown: Two...

who should I give my hard earned to?

What a load of old nonsense  I accept that maybe for some people, trading without money may leave the exercise less valuable; especially those people who may have a trigger problem when dealing with larger sums of money (but this is a different issue; one that is individual to the...
