Hi all, Does anyone have recent experience of this company, good, bad or indifferent? What does the prop side do, what are they like to work for etc ?

    Anyone applied to Macfutures/Refco

Unhappy is the wrong word. Skeptical would be more accurate. I did not sit down anywhere in the end, just sorted out infrastructure and a clearing firm so I can work from home.

    Anyone applied to Macfutures/Refco

I do find it very informative ;-) that Refco just extended the deadline for applying AGAIN. Hop over to http://jobs.efinancialcareers.com/job-4000000000085927.htm click on "Apply for job", and what do you get? Exactly. I wonder why they did that. Would anyone care to speculate?

I just got the same infrastructure at about the same cost working from home. Out of curiosity, why are you curious? ;-)

    euribor problems

Market impact won't be a issue with that lot size, so it isn't what you're doing differently, it's what you're doing where the problem lies. Ask yourself whether you ever had an edge or if were you just randomly lucky in your first month. This isn't a putdown, it's a hard question which you...

    Arcades - sanity check please

Earlier on I said I'd summarise, for the benefit of the archives if nothing else. So here goes: It looks to me like liquidity provision and scalping are to a career in professional speculative trading what cold calling is to a career as a salesman: Evil but necessary and some people get so...

    Arcades - sanity check please

twalker, As I understand it now there are three styles of making money from trading STIR spreads: 1 Form a view on steepening/flattening/convexity change of the forward curve and enter a position accordingly, then wait for days if necessary. 2 Scalp spreads with a view to either making half a...

    Arcades - sanity check please

The good bit: I have watched some short term interest rate arcade scalpers in action. Good (and lucky) ones averaged about GBP2 per round turn, less good ones about GBP0.50 per round turn, but all of them, even newbies, were profitable, which was impressive. The not so good bit: The higher...

    Arcades - sanity check please

Shouldn't think so - there are enough Brits in the other place to make asking the same questions there worthwhile, that's all.
