I'm a beginner. My plan:- run 2 learning strategies; practical & theory & encourage them to converge nicely, one day! I've just begun my practical learning using bulbearings.co.uk' s fantasy forex game. I THINK what I did might be called 'a very rudimentary price breakout strategy'.
On day one at trade2win, I found, in the forums, a link to a link with a video/INO TV presentation by Linda Rashke. She said that some of the most successful traders she knows tend to be painstaking - drawing chart after chart BY HAND, taking ownership of their understanding. I took heart at that. I'm a slow starter by nature. I like the luxury of delving into things; looking at them from several angles.
I also once read that mathematicians tend to like to reduce, down to one statement, everything they can learn/intuit about something, then, expand that statement back out into its component parts with greater understanding..repeating that pattern, ad infinitum. This helps to imagine both the big picture and the detail. I know that I think like that. (I've actually been told on a couple of occasions, by mathematicians, that I do think like a mathematician!) I am hoping that trading will be amenable to that particular thinking/learning style.
My trading motivation: to acquire some of the large sums of money needed to help assert the need for an enhanced societal conscious about animals who suffer in human commercial pursuits because of a particular human 'moral norm'. (Our modern, increased awareness of Sustainability Issues SHOULD HAVE impacted that norm, but little has changed!) That 'moral norm' is that humanity can, & is entitled to, perpetually sustain the practices that reflect our selectively relegating Animals to any 'convenient place' in the scheme of All Life. I believe this ingrained 'moral norm' is corrupt - morally & logically. I believe in the real possibility of a Peaceable Kingdom for All Life. Like any possible or ENVISIONED REALITY it NEEDS FUNDING!
