Trade the bars not the stars

yes i got i a while ago, nothing new just uses a simple pattern thats in every good trading book.
lets just call it a long stick with a union jack on it!!!!

I'm looking for the 2006/2007 version of TradeTheBarsNotTheStars.
Does anyone have it ?
Interested to exchange? I have lots of new stuffs.
Thanks!

Devil's advocate..

Is anyone using this one?

It looks like the results have been made by placing $20 per point gained on the Dow.
They take about 10 points per trade, therefore show quite a good monthly gain.

Bold claims indeed....

I challenge you to find any strategy that can match or beat Trade the Bars Not the Stars performance.. you simply won't find it - that's how confident I am!

He also says,

...trading with a dependence upon indicators is about as reliable as trying to pick the winning numbers in the lottery. Seriously, the quicker you stop relying on technical indicators, the quicker you'll achieve profitability.

But then in the FAQs

Q: Does Trade the Bars use any technical indicators?

A: Yes, we use two Exponential Moving Averages for TREND DIRECTION only.

There then is a large leap of faith to clicking on this page

where one is offered payment options to the tune of $995

Chickenfeed for a system that claims to have made $336,000 since 2002

So WHY IS IT FOR SALE?

again do not by it , just buy a boo on trading patterns and i will be in there it is a very common pattern and not worth spending £££££££ on believe me i have it, and found the same thing in one of martin prings books,

Check out this website. There's quite a few interesting systems there.

Does anyone use this method and can show a few trade examples from something like a 5 minute ER2 from recent days ? Just a few trades during a day would suffice. Thanks to anyone who can do that. The website itself is full of claims, but I don't see even one trading example on a chart.

I don't have the system, but have heard its chart signal is a Flag.

Nevertheless it would be good to have an eg. of it. Did you ask the seller?

I don't no about you I for one would not like to have to set the whole day on the computer waiting for a signal to come though. I tend to like anything to do with the opening, so I'm done early and I don't over trade.

I trade fully automated so I don't have to spend my day waiting for a signal then making sure I don't miss it. I hate staring at the screens and watching. I prefer to be writing code and testing new systems.

I am not even wanting somebody to show me the pattern nor describe what is going on. We can leave that private to the people who have bought it. All I really need is a date and a time and a location, e.g 3/12/2008, 5 minute ER2, 13:00, where some trades are at and I can take it from there. So if anybody has it and knows the places where this guy says the trades happened at then I would appreciate it.

On his website it states that if N number of people were using this then all of them would have the same signal. This means to me that the system is rather straightforward with exact rules. Exact rules can be coded into a strategy and strategies is what I am all about. This guy provides the rules but he does not provide it as a strategy nor an indicator. He provides a trading manual. I wonder why that is?

There really isn't very much out there publically about this system showing a typical trade location, and that includes the website. That certainly does take a leap of faith to go from a claim that somebody is making over a million dollars per year trading two contracts, but doesn't even show an instance of a trade at all. I would really like to see even just a few days worth of the signals from that system to see how well it actually wins. Heck for that matter it doesn't even matter if the days shown win or not. I have been trading long enough to know that not every day is a winner, but one would think that if a fews days of trades were shown then some of them would be winners with a million plus a year strategy. So, anybody using this system at all out there and willing to show a few trade locations ? We can compare trade locations to see :)

That site is now selling that for $1195.It is not worth that amount of money.Apperantly they ship you a manual so you are essentially paying $1195 for a book.Thats one expensive book.I asked the guy some questions he didnt say much.Apperantly offers some instant messenger service to answer questions. He provides no proof of the results since 2002 so they can be considered fake.If you look around on some sites youll find some people whove wasted there cash and say its definately not worth it.And apperantly the people dont honor the money back guarantee and blame you for not being able to learn it properly.

Agree with stratopt, lets see some proof ...the site has a nice feel to it but not much meat........ hope springs eternal for traders doesnt it?

I ran into a fellow in a forum that told me he has this book, and bought it with a whole bunch of Joe Ross stuff and a pile of other trading material at an estate sale. I have to ask him if he has used it at all.
Cheers Guys

I don't know if anyone is still following this thread but I can add this...

This guy (Grant Bloomfield) actually answers his phone. Seriously, if you call the number in the sales copy, he picks up.

And I'll also say this...he's not cocky, and he's not salesy, and if you ask him an intelligent question about his method he gives you an inteligent answer. No BS.

He kind of sounds like...well, someone who is making consistent money with his trading and is willing to help the rest of us do the same.

I haven't bought-in yet but it's obvious to me that Grant has done his homework. If you've done any serious backtesting on tradestation you'll know where he's coming from.

I'm probably gonna buy-in. He has a day-trading method that works. I don't. Do you?

I have the system, a friend of mine gave it to me a while back. You will definitely have to be in front of the screen the whole time to look for the patterns to form and even then no grantee that the trade will pan out.
Its not a totally a bad system but nothing revolutionary for $1,200 dollars.
Maybe he has added some ideas and made it better but still I would not pay more then $399 for it.

ok, thanks, good to know. A couple hours of screen-time each day is not necessarily a bad thing in my book.

I trade a lot of Divergence set-ups so I'm used to scanning multiple markets and patiently waiting for my opportunity to pounce

This is possibly a shill bot or paid blogger promotion shill using the term "buy-in" to try to legitimize this scam.
I mean its over 2 years since the last post on this thread, why are all these new signups all of a sudden bumping these threads legitimizing them?
They use these terms "buy-in" or "get-on-board" as they are kind of a psychological terms which persuades dense people to part with their money.
Its a scam, there is reports all over the internet, search Google, it uses free things like flags etc.
They don't honor any promised money back guarantee they have never done this in many years to anyone.
Anyone who pays this much money for this garbage is a fool im sorry to say.

Dr_Jones, I totally agree with you on both parts; the guys is probably a shill and the system is not worth the money. I think I would start to cry when I received the book and read through it knowing I just spent $1,200.

Just for the record, I have been subscribed to this thread for over two years, so I get an email when someone posts on the thread.
