ALGO or Programme?

Hi there,

I have a very basic question I cannot figure out in the net.

I am trying to learn about algorithmic trading. My assumption was that algo trading is a generic term for automatically initiated trading.

But I often read that algo trading is different to (for exapmle) programme trading.

Can someone explain the difference between these two?
