2% or not 2%

This is a discussion on 2% or not 2% within the Trading Systems forums, part of the Methods category; each to their own, but IMO fook 2%. I risk 0.5% max. 5 losing trades in a row at 2% ...

5 losing trades in a row at 2% = 10% of your account gone. Maybes some are OK with that but 5 losing trades in a row is more then possible, i'm sure we've all done it. -10% is a massive head ****.

A good General (trader) after he sends his front soldier to inspect the enemy territory (trade) will not leave him to die (stop loss) when he encounters difficulties , he will try to rescue him first knowing he also can inflict damage when they are defending (entering at a better price). Beside doing so he will also lift the mood of all his troops (maintaing optimal psychological levels)....

Not if he's going to lose the whole army ... a good General wont risk losing a war just for one soldier .

Why does he has to lose the war? He knows his max risk he is taking by doing what he is doing in the mean he is inflicting pain and a lot of it.

Yes, some time he will be hit of course this is war, he knows that but before that and after that and while that is happening he is gaining ground.

There is no max risk in war . Losing a soldier is never a pain - may he rest in peace - he will always be remembered .

I got you point Tar, my problem with it is that because your General is afraid in losing the war his moves will be too prudent and in doing so one by one all his soldier with time will die by old age (yes in peace, that it is the only consolation) but he will still end up losing the war without trying.

Not if he has a solid plan and reasonable expectations .
