Trend Overextended

Hi,

Im looking ofr an indicator that signals when the trend is overextended, the common setting for oscillators are constantly giving signals and saying when the trend is going to reverse.

Im looking for something more long term, something that will let me know getting in the trend is risky

Any advice appreciated

Longest term indicator that comes to mind is the Coppock, I believe it was based on research into how long it took people to emotionally adjust to traumatic personal events.

But whatever you use, all indicators give a lagging picture on what the market has done, not a predictive picture of what it will do, so I'm not convinced any of them answer your question.
