I've just released a software app in the form of a mind map to help traders and investors store their info and resources.

Rather than have downloads, articles, logs, spreadsheets, etc. scattered all over your hard drive, they are easily accessible through the mind map interface.

It is free to download whilst in its beta release phase and I would welcome feedback.

Thanks.

Why is Trading Index free?

Hi Basha,

I'd been using mind mapping software for years for brainstorming, project management and keeping organised and I developed Trading Index to help sort out all my trading resources.

I thought it may be useful to others so I put a bit more development time into it and released it free to beta testers. I would like feedback on the software if possible, though that isn't necessary to continue to use Trading Index for free into the future.

I may start to charge for it after the beta phase is over, I don't know.

I must admit that I don't see trading as a competitive game (at least not between individual traders that you may find on T2W) so I'm always willing to help others. We certainly compete against the 'big boys' and possible market makers but I'm not targeting Trading Index at them so they'll have to remain disorganised :p

I hope that you get chance to download the software and let me know what you think.

Hi Charlton,

I looked at FreeMind and other free mind mapping software a couple of years ago but settled on the commercial MindManager as it seemed more polished and easier to get things done. Things may have changed now.

Unfortunately, Trading Index can't be (easily) opened in FreeMind but there is a free mind map viewer available at:

Mindjet: Download Mindjet MindManager Viewer 7

If someone opts to use FreeMind, then there is no reason why they would need to open a Trading Index file. They would just use FreeMind and, as it is open source software, they know it will remain free, like openoffice.

There is also loads of similar offerings listed here

Powerful software tools selected for you | mindmap-shop.com

or by googling "Mindmap Software". Some is free and some is not free.

One is really spoilt for choice, so bear this in mind if you decide to beta-test Trading Index or to pay for it after beta testing is complete

I think Traders Log will be fine it is a software trading diary. Calculate position size and risk on capital. Add comments, pictures and information about your trades.

Hi Charlton,

I don't know whether there is some confusion here or not.

Trading Index is a mindmap to help you to organise your trading information. It is not mindmapping software of which there are numerous free versions around as you point out.

I use recommend Mindmanager viewer as it is free and allows you to easily open Trading Index without losing anything in the conversion process. Once you have the viewer it will obviously always be free for you to use and Trading Index will always be free to anyone who downloads it now.

So, Trading Index is a free tool to help organise trading information of which there are no other similar applications out there, free or otherwise, that I am aware of.
