I used to trade E-mini S&P 500 automatically on TradeStation.
Is there any similar platform for Hong Kong Hang Seng Index?
Thanks

Hello HKWoo,
IB provides API to do trade only. Can I use IB to do backtest on historical data?

Dear Maggie_Swan,
I just signed up with IB and it'll take a few days for my account to be approved, I'll know more later. However, my impression is that IB has it's own platform called Trader Workstation (TWS), its data feed can be used with other software. The extend to which individual software integrates with TWS (e.g. auto trade) through its API varies.
Cheers!

Hey Maggie,

You may have already found an answer to this. The answer is sorta. The API is a way of talking to TWS, which in turn talks to IB's servers. This way you can execute trades and get historical data. Once you have historical data it's not too hard to backtest on your own. This all assumes you know how to program though. If you don't then the answer is basically no.

Good luck

Thanks Nelson.
I was a VBA for Excel and C programmer.
I should be able to handle the API.
Besides IB, do you know any auto-trade platform on Hang Seng Futures?
Thanks

A number of third party platforms hookup to TWS eg Ninja. There is a list here:

I don't think you are going to find a broker that supplies complete back testing/automation package for HSI. IB is very likely your best option.
