When i draw a line in the 4h chart i check the properties to make sure the box is ticed for it to be shown in all timeframes but then when i change timeframes its no longer there and also disappears from the timeframe i put it in in the first place:confused:

what am i doing wrong?

Im not sure if I can help, however, what type of line are you drawing, horizontal, vertical, or trendline ?

are you drawing the line manually ?, or drawing the line from an EA or indicator ?

Do you have the ray property set on the line ?

horizontal line, just clicking on this function from the toolbar and placing it on the chart,

not sure wht the ray property is?

ray applies to trends lines and means the line extends beyond the second node of the line. If you uncheck this box the line is drawn between the two nodes only.

Can't think what the problem is with lines disappearing once you've drawn them.

You haven't got the line colour set the same as the chart background have you ?

Try right clicking on the chart and then select Objects list and see if the lines you've drawn are listed there.

As DD explained, the ray property applies only to trend lines.

The only thing I can think of might be the Y axis scaling is such on the on the faster chart that the previously drawn line is either above the maximum Y value, or below the minuimum Y value, although the line should still be there when you switch back

It might be worth setting the name of the line in the properties box to something thats easily recognisable, and then when the line disapears use Ctrl-B to view the list of chart objects to see if its still there, or if it has actually been deleted.

Another possibility might be there's a script or EA running that deletes objects, but I'm probably clutching at straws with that one.

If you draw the line on say a 1 minute chart, and then switch to 5, 15, 30, 60 do you still get the problem ?

Zupcon,

You have amazing straw clutching abilities i opened up a clean chart and no loonger had the problem so it was the ea at fault.

thanks for your help.

Now i just need to find out how to stop the ea from deleting the lines. Maybe its because i have the chart saved as a template with the ea applied to it?
