Riz, I went for the expensive option - the Reuters link (phone no. from Chris (company called Winrow). Works quickly with no probs - don't know what the other is like.
Mark

Hi Riz
Did not have a link.....rather a phone number.
It is avid Rouse - 01606 41241. However, he is usually only reachable between 10am - 1pm.
Hope you get sorted soon,
Mark

Hi,
I decided to get atrial package too. Loaded ok and works well from my existing AIQ file (once a patch is downloaded).
Only problem so far is the portfolio which is American style. Looks like all that has been changed is the dollar sign. This means that you enter a share as £5.10 but as the data is held in pence it values at £510, also gives 1/2 and 1/4 etc. I can ignore it and enter the share as £510 and mentally divide by 100.

I have e-mailed the support service and will post the response.

Other than that it seems to be a good method of trawling prospects and learning TA principles.

Happy Christmas
Regards
Joe

Thanks Joe,
Good idea...we'll carry on here then..

Merry Christmas and best wishes..

Could someone provide a summary of data sources and monthly costs for OmniTrader. Also, I notice that ADVFN have a facility for downloading data, including csv format. Is this useful for OT? Does anyone use ADVFN for data download? Thanks.

Hill Farmer - when I purchased OT, I was given the number of 2 data providers:

Regisdata - Graham Pinkney on 01872 580858. About £16 per month

winrow(Reuters) David Rouse on 01872 41241. About £24 pm.

Chris peronally felt that even though Winrow was more expensive, the quality was better. I must say I went for Winrow, and installed everything without a hitch, and am perfectly happy with it. Don't know what Riz (or other's) opinions are on this matter.

Hope that helps,
Mark

I got Regisdata's free one week trial on the internet, could only reach to last day data however, no history data..therefore couldn't get proper results..maybe they send the history data on CD after the trial week..I've decided to go for Winrow as Mark said a little more expensive but with less headache I suppose...

Must give Omnitrader (Nirvana) top marks for responding to my problem with the portfolio. Sent Sat 23/12/00 replied Thurs 28/12/00 with a solution.

Impressed so far

Joe,

Investor Ease can export data in MetaStock format. Can this then be imported into Omni? The idea is that instead of paying for just a data feed into Omni, one also gets the benefit of IEase, all for about £11 per month or whatever it is IEase costs. Any other data feeds available? Thanks.

Hi Hill,
Happy New Year to you and everyone on this BB.

I have not tried importing Investorease into Metastock. However Omnitrader is simple to use in that all it needs to know for Metastock and AIQ is the directory address of where the files are held and it does the rest.

As you know I use AIQ, Metastock and now Omnitrader (Updata for real time). Omnitrader seems to be the simplest to use and yet the most informative.

My prestel end of day downloads the Metastock data in one 30 second phone call. I then update the AIQ files from the
Metastock (automatic 60 seconds) this in turn make updated files available to Omnitrader. All compatible, one source one 30 second phone call minimum of fiddling about for £105.75 per year from Financial Express prestel 01483 783900 or www.financial-express.co.uk

Joe

Joe,

Happy New Year to you and other BB members. Thank's for that, all nice and clear. It's good that we can share information this way on the BB as it benefits everyone.

Evening all
I am thinking of purchasing a software package to help in the filtering out of stocks to buy,

I have got it down to two,
metastock or omnitrader,
Which system in your opinon is the easier to use ,most value for money ,and most sucessfull,
I would be most grateful for any guidance any one may give me.
thanks
Rob

Hi RSL
Have a look at a thread on the general subjects. Theres a posting on 10-01-2001 08.30, called 'Need opinion on ....'

I think if you want to get real 'techie' you want Metastock or AIQ. If you want something to do the sorting for you, then OT is the one.
You can get samples of all 3 bits of software to have a look at.
