Connection problems with TS

I have been having several problems connecting to TS: today I cannot enter the software at all and yesterday evening the platform froze during Wall street market hours and never came back.
Same sort of thing happened last monday: it was a holiday in the US and I later found out that it actually was a failure of TS and not my ISP.
I really need to know if it is a problem due to TS or to my ISP.
Any help much appreciated

Hi, I too have been having worrying problems with TS connectivity. Having exhausted most avenues I now have it narrowed down to slowness on the route between TS and my ISP (BT), ie not TS fault, and not BT's fault, don't know what to do, as often impossible to use tick charts. TS say not their issue, so does the ISP, does anybody have any reccomendations at all? Especially people trading from London.

Cheers, and good luck!

I am exactly in the same boat as you. I have spent a lot of time and energy getting acquainted with TS platform and EL and I have a funded account with them so I was planning of starting trading this account from tomorrow, but I just cannot go crazy being unable to log in or having the whole thing freezing during market hours.
I am investigating in this very moment with my isp to see if it can be their fault, but I believe I will have to restart from scratch.
I also have a funded account with IB and was planning to use TS as a charting tool, but now I will probably have to find another package that accepts IB data and start from scratch.
Back to square one

It depends on what version of TS you are using because IB can feed TS2Ki without any issues.

Paul,
thanks for the reply.
I am using the last version of TS (I believe is 8.4), I opened and funded a brokerage account with them about 3 weeks ago.
I don't believe I can use IB feed with the new versions of TS. But anyhow my main problem with TS ATM is that I cannot even get the software to start: when I launch the icon from my desktop it just just freezes and the program does not respond

that's not a good sign! delete and reinstall the program in my opinion, also make sure nothing on your pc is blocking it, ie set it up as an allowed program on a list(however you do that!).

I have had TS for the best part of a year, there are constant problems if you are using the SIM, same problems over and over again that are never resolved. My live account is much better but I have had problems recently with it messing up limit and stop orders.

I have connected to TS from numerous locations using a vodafone modem, wireless and hard wired connections and havnt seen any difference in performance, I doubt if its your connection, maybe go to an internet cafe and try it there. The only way to get TS to do something is to tell them to refund your money and close the account, then they might listen, otherwise theyll just keep fobbing you off.

ps I cannot login today but I think that happens a lot at weekends, maybe they are doing maintenance.

Thanks, this is reassuring. I do agree it must be due to maintenance over the we; I was worried because the enability to log on happened just after a day when I got disconnected continuously.
But now I believe that the disconnection was actually due to my isp.
By the way, what do you mean by using the SIM, as opposed to the live account?

I started off by trading using a SIM (simulated account, not real money but real data) but it seems it is not well supported and theyre not interested in fixing issues with it.

I'm on TS right now, I can log in, I'm in London. So obviously no maintanance work now, or at least not affecting me.

I need to get this sorted OR change platform within the next week, so am exploring every option. Seems like many many threads on TS forums about similar problems with data lag, etc. Some 'experienced' people suggest it could be the users' PC(RAM, etc) - I'm not convinced though.

Oh, OK, I see. Simulated accounts in most brokers have a lot of bugs.
But still I don't understand how you can connect from a Internet cafe. I was under the impression that you had to download the program in your PC to gain access to TS

I meant connecting using my laptop, there is no web based platform.

Cant login this morning though, this is becoming a pain as I like to backtest at weekends.

Yes, no connection for me either. I also like backtesting and setting weekly and monthly pivots on we.
But after all, if it will work tomorrow it is not the end of the world.
More worrying is the fact that I get disconnected at busy hours (after 7: pm London time), but most likely that is due to my isp
