Moving to MetaTrader and we need several programmers...

Our firm has a trading system programmed in a language called Java that we use with GFT. We are moving to a new Broker and apparently need to have this system moved into a language called MQL4 for use with the new Broker's system. Does anyone have any recommendations of how to get this done? I've been reading some of the posts and from what I can gather there are some very poor programmers out there. I am hoping I can learn from others mistakes. Our strategy is quite intensive and trades several PAM accounts so we need true professionals.

Thanks and very much appreciated.

If you are remotely serious about this I would suggest that you give the job to whoever wrote your java application.

MQL4 is an extremely simple and limited language, any Java programmer is going to pick it up very quickly, if the models are large and complex, you may even struggle to impliment them in MQL4 and need to call them from external DLL's anyway.

Seriously, let your current developer handle this

Good advice. At least you can trust your current programmer. MQL is **** easy to learn (for a programmer).

Hi jimmiseven,

I offer you my programming service, I wrote several expert advisors for people on this board, and I think they are happy, am I right?

Regards.

Dont make the mistake of going to MQL4 for intensive applications.

Change your broker!

Hi,

I have over 15 years experience as a developer and yes you are correct, there are many who claim they can program in MQL4 but most make common mistakes that experienced developers don't,

The complexity of the algorithms aren't necessarily the problem and intensive programs can be developed without to much of a problem. Its just mostly within the Metatrader community there isn't a great deal of experienced programmers who truely understand these problems.

For example if you have an existing system it may be possible to write a bridging system between Metatrader and your system, this would require the need to develop dll's which are invoked by meta trader. I have done a few of these systems in the past integrating Metatrader to .Net systems, as well as countless indicators and expert advisors

Hope that helps and feel free to contact me.

Thanks for the replies. So far we have contracted some of our work to a company called MT Programming and they seem like they know this MQL4 language pretty well and are hooking into some of the code we already have. We still have over 50+ strategies to complete and need to get this done asap. If your a seasoned programmer and could use the work please send me a PM and I'll get back to you.

Thanks for the replies and the input...

I have been programming Java for many years and have been programming MQL4 for a few years as well. I am the author of the "AME Cross Trader", which was entered in the 2008 Automated Trading Championship. Anyway, I would love to take a look at your programs and give you an estimate of the work involved and cost. Please contact me by submitting a support ticket to my Helpdesk and let's begin the communication process.
