have a function:

=VLOOKUP(B5,CL!D:E,2,FALSE)

How can I perform the lookup where CL, D, and E (or columsn 4 and 5) are parameters, rather than a range that I drag the mouse over? I basically want to have those 3 parameters as inputs from other cells on the sheet.

Is there a funciton in excel like eval where you could construct the whole command as a string referencing the other boxes?

I found the answer here!

Excel : Specify range by paramaters, rather than dragging mouse over the range? - Yahoo! Answers

Basically, I'm downloading historical price data from Bloomberg into Excel. Each series returned comes with its own time series, and I'm trying to line them up so that I have the prices for numerous series, on a particular date, on the same row.

Does anyone know of a better way to do it than using a vlookup?
