Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get tradestation setup like my qcharts was ;) Figure it will just be easier to make one post with all the questions since I have so many...

1> Is there a way to save the window layout and load it onto another window?

What I mean by this. I have one chart analysis window setup like I want it (colors, indicators, formating, etc) and I want to load it into another chart analysis window that is not setup...

I tried the analysis group, but that doesn't set the colors (formatting), etc.

2> In qcharts I had the ability to increase/decrease bar size as well as spacing. I found the buttons for increase/decrease bar spacing in TW, but not size. Is that available somewhere?

3> In qcharts I could change the "scale" of the time as well as the price just by clicking and dragging in the time line or the price axis. I see in TS I can do this on the price, but on the time, it doesn't do anything. Is this possible? How do I change th time scale on a single chart quickly (not 5 min 55 min daily, but the actual amount of time shown on a chart). So for example, my weekly currently shows feb 15th to current. I want it to chow only september and october but with the same size window... I used increase bar spacing, but is there a way to "drag" to get this with the mouse.

4> How do I change "order" of the sub-analysis windows inside a window? Right now it is price, macd, dmi, stoch and but I want price, macd, stoch, dmi..

Thanks in advance for all your help....

1. You can copy and paste the windows using a right click and following the list
2. Bar Height will be based on how many bars are on the chart as it will scale. You can center price
3. Use your arrow keys to adjust the charts around
4. Indicators will load in the order they are placed. Strategies can be adjusted up and down via buttons. You can however place the indicators onto the chart where you like using Format Analysis Techniques ... Format ... Scaling ... Subgraph

1. I think you mis-understood this question. I have a layout for a window figured out and on the screen. I already have other windows on the screen with the timeframes and spacing I want, but want to put the layout (indicators, colors, etc) of the first window onto the other windows that I already have created ( not create a new window as you have described). I tried the analysis group, but that doesn't copy/apply the formatting (colors, etc)

There is no mechanism that I know of where you can apply only a format outline to windows that already exist.

If you want an analysis group to copy from one window to another and keep the colors, line weights etc. the same. I think the best way to accomplish this is to click the "set as default" button on each indicator. That way every time you insert an indicator or analysis technique it will come in with the same format.

If you don't want to save these changes as your default settings then simply right click on the window and copy. The right click on an empty area of the worksheet and paste.

To make permanent changes to the "style" of the window (but not the indicators loaded) you could right click and click on "format symbol". Click on the "Style" tab and there you can change colour, type of bar i.e. OHLC or Candlestick etc and the weigh (thickness of the bar - 2 is a good setting). If you click on "set as default" then your settings will be permanent FOR ALL CHARTS OPENED (until you change them again!).

To change the whole window e.g. to change the background to, say, "white" you go to the Format Menu on the top bar and click on "Window" there you can change everything else related to colour. If you want to make your changes permanent you click on "Set as Default"

To automatically open your analysis techniques (i.e. save/open your indicators) with every window! Click on your original set up chart. Right Click on any one of the analysis techniques. Click on Manage Analysis Groups. Use the "drop down" window titled "Automatically add..." then all windows will now open with the colours, line style and analysis groups you want.

I tried the analysis group, but that doesn't set the colors (formatting), etc.

Analysis Group will only save your analysis groups not your colours and settings. See above for the solution

Size is answered by my above comment. For Spacing use the Spacing button it looks like two arrows ppointing outwards enclosedby two blue lines. On the toolbar.

All software has it's differences and quirks. Tradestation may not be able to do this, I don't know a practical way BUT you could do it by specifying only those dates you want to appear as follows.

First rightclick on the price window; select format symbol; type in the last date you want to appear; then click on the time format (select "months") then type in "2" for two months. NOTE: if your date is set in the past, tradestation will not update your chart! This is for purposes of fixed date backtesting which you will find useful later.

4> How do I change "order" of the sub-analysis windows inside a window? Right now it is price, macd, dmi, stoch and but I want price, macd, stoch, dmi..

Right Click the chart. Choose "Format Analysis Techniquest". Select the Analysis technique you wish to change the position of. Click on "Format". Click on "Scaling". Click on "Subgraph". Move it to a higher or lower subgraph where you want it BUT not subgraph 1 as that is the price data.

All the best BPV:)
