Hi Everybody,

I have an EA that I am willing to offer for free on this forum. I will likely be back to offer a much more sophisticated EA for sell in the coming days so I figure that it can't hurt to build some good will here first. I have another good breakout EA based on Fractals that I might also post for free here in the coming weeks.

This is a very simple H1 trend MA based on rapid price deviations from a significant moving average. It is designed to work on the H1 time frame. There are seversal versions of the EA each designed to trade a specific currency cross (or crosses) The Hercules_v3_Majors EA is ready to trade EUR/USD and USD/CHF. I have also attached the GBP/JPY version thad is set to trade GBP/JPY. If anyone is interested in receiving the other versions you can just drop me a line by PM and I'll be happy to send them. The lot size and MM is also easily adjusted in each EA. This EA participated in the 2006 A.T.C. where it was able to hold the top spot for most of the competition before suffering from a string of losses that eventually knocked it out of contention. Modifications have recently been made to reduce the drawdowns suffered by Hercules in oscillating market environments but it is still recommendable to pair this EA with a range trading strategy in order to achieve a more consistent equity curve. The risk:reward ratio however is EXTREMELY favorable and winning trades tend to be quite a bit larger than the losing ones.

This is the very first EA that I ever designed (what now seems like over a million years ago), it was coded by David Lin, and later modified by Ahmed.

I also have free versions of Hercules available for the following crosses; GBP/USD, EUR/AUD, EUR/JPY, USD/CAD, AUD/USD, and NZD/USD. To receive the other versions please click on the link below.

Happy Trading,

Vince Wells

thanks for posting free EAs.

Are there instructions for its use, or is it all "on the screen"?

If users complain that the risk:reward isnt all that good, or indeed, the EA isnt profitable, how do you ensure that your response isnt going to be "well, you're going to have to pay to buy the proper, profitable version"?
(I want to believe that the free downloads arent a sales pitch to sell something that is itself useless)

Isnt having different EAs for different FX pairs a result of optimisation? In that, they have been tweaked to look good on historical data.

A good test of robustness is when you can change some of the parameters slightly and the results also change slightly, as the system is underpinned by strong principles. If you change a parameter, and the profitability nose-dives, then its been optimised.

welcome to T2W, and hope you can enlighten newbies with explained insights, rather than blindly following signals they dont understand.

EDIT: do you have any test results for the past few months?

While It is appreciated that you have posted some free stuff for the members here, you will have to realise that you will be unable to advertise on these boards EA's you have for sale, or indeed advertise yourself for having them for sale.

Please read the site guidelines for further information regarding this.

Hi Trendie,

My pleasure. I hope the EAs are able to benefit you.

No, there are no separate instructions for use. The parameters are all easily adjustable on the main page of the EA.

I would suggest that all users begin by using Hercules on a demo account or with very small lots. This will allow the trader to become familiar with the trading style of the EA and decide if it is something that they are comfortable using. I can understand that there is a great deal of skepticism in this industry... indeed for good reason. There are quite a few scammers looking to make a quick buck off of naive traders. This makes it difficult for legitimate EA designers like myself who are highly committed to creating quality products to market high-grade trading systems. I fully stand behind all of my EAs as I have dedicated ENORMOUS amounts of time and energy in developing the very best strategies that can stand the test of time.

I do not design any strategies in the Strategy Tester. All of my EAs are based on real-life strategies and trading techniques that I have developed and have been using profitably for many years. It is a common belief that "a chart is a chart", I believe this to be a misconception. After many thousands of hours analyzing the price action of various currency pairs I have found that they do indeed behave quite differently from each other, and what is good for the goose is often not good for the gander. I believe the largest factor influencing differences in cross behavior is volume/liquidity. Certain MAs might be extremely relevant with one pair yet completely insignificant with another. For each version of Hercules the most significant MA was chosen and the price action of that cross relative to that MA over the past several years confirms its relevance.

Thank you. I appreciate your questions. Hopefully my responses were able to offer some more insight into my EAs. I realize that it is important to "vet" new vendors, your valuable questions provide an additional service to this forum's members. If you (or any other members) have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I am passionate about Forex and I am always enthusiastic for new opportunities to discuss the science of price action.

To answer you last question... Hercules has been around a while and I used to run it an a live account. However as I developed newer and more sophisticated EAs I eventually shelved it. Recently I decided to pull it out of retirement and add some new filters that would help to improve its accuracy. Because of its sound strategy and robust risk:reward ratio I realized it was too valuable to simply be collecting dust. However due to its very basic order management and lack of testing I could not in good conscience collect any money for its usage. Distributing it for free on a forum seemed the ideal alternative. I have designed well over 100 EAs and I'm currently running approx. 60 of them combined together into one "Super EA" named 'Apollo'. For live trade results from Apollo you can go to my website at Formula4x.com- Your Strategy Guide to the Foreign Exchange Currency Market! In the FAQ section of the site I explain a bit more of my trading philosophy also.

Happy Trading,

No problem

Hi Lightning,

O.K. Forgive me. It was the title of the section of this forum (Classifieds - For Sale) that created the confusion for me. I made sure that I saw other vendors posting also before adding my thread.

At any rate... I am still available to answer any questions regarding the Hercules EA.

Happy Trading!

Well I'm assuming that all of your EA's eventually blow the trading accounts up or you wouldn't be going through the trouble to try and sell some. I will not, or ever trust a programme to trade my own money, if I was going to sit back and have my money traded for me, I would put my money into a overseas hedgefund with at least 5 years experience. I will be happy to be proven wrong with actual historical real-time account statements (your own live account, not demo).

Hi Witty,

Does Hercules EA need any indictaors attached to it.
I had the above EA's running all night and no bite yet.
Can you tell me which if any are needed or is it just a waiting game.

Quality vs. Quantity

Hi V4mpy,

No, Hercules does not require any custom indicators.

Hercules is a selective trader and as such will not trigger very often. However when it does enter the majority of its trades tend to be winners and on average the winning trades are much larger than the losing traders. So the wins can still add up pretty quickly when it cashes in 400+ pip trades. If you are running all 6 Hercules EAs together you can expect to average about a trade a week.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Happy Trading,

Witty

Yes, some do without permission and we regulars rip into them mercilessly because it is plain rude of them not to ask and also subtly suggests to newbies that these people could be conmen.

Your best bet would be to pay for a banner ad on this site or sponsor one of the regular T2W emails that go out to the registered members.

All the best.

So, you don't know what an EA is but feel qualified to dismiss as bollox....woteva !

I'm starting to build up a pretty good picture of FXSCALPER.

People post then FXSCALPER looks for the arguement.

FXSCALPER is a KEYBOARD WARRIOR.

Almost everyone of his posts are arguementative in nature.

Can someone give me a link to a helpful post or kind post from FXSCALPER.

FXSCALPER is like a bear with a thorn in his foot.

I conclude that FXSCALPER has had a hard time trading and instead of asking for help just shoots everybody down. (oh, and still finds time to rant about CS)

Can anyone offer advice into how we can help this bitter person spread a little love instead of looking for fights.
I just can't stand people who sell signals and 'systems', that is all.

Trend EA would be best. Scalping EA tend to fail in most brokers as most brokers don't allow scalping.

This EA is developed not for sales but for actual use. When you look at the code you can see there is reasonable target/stops and selection criteria. It can be made profitable.

Thanks for this one. It seems this guy is one of the few who are trying to offer something legitimate.

I'm going to dig in and see if I can learn something.
