$TICK extreme audible alerts

I'm a fan of the $TICK fade strategy, especially to time the end of a retracement move on a trending day (to get in with the trend), but I find it hard staring at the screen all day just to wait for a $TICK extreme reading >=1,000 or <=-1,000. I've read in a book that you can write a program (or download one) to customise an audible alert for when the $TICK hits a certain level. Does anyone know which real-time charting packages support this feature and/or where to download the alert? (I'm no techie and know nothing about software programming, unfortunately!) Any advice and pointers much appreciated.

Tradestation 2000i supports this ability but I would expect that you can do the same in Excel.
