Hello,

I'm looking for a broker that is compatible with MT4.
Is IB compatible with this software?
What other brokers can you suggest that are best suited to forex?
From reading various threads on here Onanda seems reccomended. Does anybody know the deposit / margin requirements etc? I have about USD8000 to open an acccount with.

Your advice would be much appreciated
Simon

i am currently using interbank fx with mt4 without any problems so far. their spreads are not the best but you can trade small sizes (down to 0.01 minilots) which is good for testing.

Actaully IBFX is good
Also i would recommend MIG Investments, Alpari UK, ODL securities.
If you prefer to trade with floating interbank spreads then the best choice is Ikon Global markets.

I notice from your profile your in the UK so the best choice is Alpari UK for security and speed of account debit credits. They accept wires or transfer on UK online banking takes one day it will show up next morning 95% of the time. Forex is technically taxable unlike spreadbet but they don't automatically notify anyone. I have a live account with them for last 8 months they are solid good fills 2 pip spreads euro and others very rare re quote and slips. EA's execution speed is 3 seconds 90% time.

I had small live account in IBFX in the past stay away! Oanda i also had live account for many years they were the 1st to offer decent small spreads but a thousand other choices nowdays and cant run mt4 stuff and spreads are unpredictable. Other very good mt4 broker is North Finance Cyprus. I have live account 2 years in out egold or wire excellent service good for low tax profile.

However first you must make a profit before you pay tax! So dont worry about tax at the mo as 90% lose but please dont go sticking 8k on mt4 unless you have live tested for 6 months first. Most public source EA's have NO error correction for live trading, they have no facility to deal with misquotes and slips. In the nicest possible warning DONT USE MT4 LIVE UNTESTED.!!

Start with Alpari UK and use 0.01 lots setting and unless its some kind of a breakout swinger or trend follower on 1hour+ timeframes i pretty much guarantee it wont work anyway. GL

I opened an account with Activtrades Ltd in London...very good trading support and with them I can trade everything...Forex, cfds with no commissions,option,futures and commodities on the pit as well with professional trading platforms. Anyone else?

I have used GFT and IBFX both. (I have also demo traded on several other MT$ brokers.) So far, I cannot tell much difference between any of them out there. (Although GFT isn't MT4.) Truthfully, if you don't put yourself in a position where 5 pips is going to make a huge difference, I haven't seen much out there that is overly greater than anyone else.

European Bank now offering MetaTrader4 for forex is Varengold Bank FX.
This is what I got from their site. Demo is Here.

* 1 pip Min. Variable Spread
* 1,000 USD Min. Deposit
* 24 Hour Online Trading
* 21 Currency Pairs
* No Dealer Intervention

I wonder if there is any "european bank" named Varengold Bank with a EU banking license. As I understand, they are more type of a broker/CFT or investing firm - but not a regulated bank. At least thats how I read their multiple websites.

And they are not members of the Compensatory Funds of the german banks, but of the german brokers.

Hi All

I'm not sure if this has been brought up in here before (probally has been).
But a friend of mine brought this to my attention a little while ago. Not 100% sure how reliable it is, but never the less something to think about.

Check this link out and let me know what you think.

MT4 Brokers' Virtual Dealer Plug-In

All the best

SO the best is to use MT4 for generating signals and trade/autotrade them through another broker. Have MT4 send the signals by email and IB/Oanda being traded through one of the interfaces.

I know this is a bit off the subject but does anyone know whether MT4 can be used for Spread-Betting and if so, which broker uses it? You can trade forex just as easily on S-B and in the possible chance that you do make money, it's not taxable.

MT4 is a lovely, flexible platform, a great shame if it can't handle S-B. All those lovely EAs, too!
