Survey about trading software

Hi,

I am researching a new tool for traders. The aim of this post is to gather your opinion. The product doesn't exist. This is for research purposes only. I am currently trying to put a business plan together to attract funding for this tool. The funding is to pay for the data among other costs.

As part of that business plan I've created a survey to get your views as to whether there is interest and therefore the business is financially viable. The survey will only take 2 minutes and is confidential. It was created and is hosted by Survey Monkey.

Thanks to all who took the time to read this post and answer the survey. The survey is still open. I have received 19 responses so far. The survey limit is 100 responses. As an incentive, I will enter those who complete the survey into a draw to win 0.2 bitcoin. (roughly equal to $53 or £34 at the time of this post). I can only pay to a Bitcoin address, so please leave your address in the text box at the end of the survey. The chance of winning the bitcoin is 1 in 100. I will announce the winning address on Sep 3, 2015.

The survey was completed by 28 people and 16 people left their bitcoin or email address. The winner was chosen at random using a python script to grab the addresses using this regular expression, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1026.0, and then using random.choice() to select the winning bitcoin address.

The results of the survey were that most respondents (90%) wouldn't pay the subscription price of the service. Among the reasons for the responses were that it was too expensive, the service can be found elsewhere and the respondents don't trade daily.

I'm going to have to rethink the service and how to target the traders who would use this service.
