I recently came across this nice charting application, I can't believe I had never heard of it before! Thought I knew about all the charting platforms under $100 a month! It's called Pro Realtime, I found out about them on alternative-investor.net where you can see some chart snapshots : http://alternative-investor.net/
It's webbased only, so some might not like that but here's their website : http://www.prorealtime.com/en/

I tried their EOD data and was amazed at all the features it comes with. Looks like eSignal, better I would say and about the same price or cheaper depending on which markets you need. Has anyone used them for their primary real time data provider? I trade mostly futures, how reliable is their feed? Obviously that 's of utmost importance when choosing a realtime quote provider and I was wondering if anyone had a bad experience with the service.
cheers

i dont use them - but have heard good things from those that do.

personally, i dont like the way each chart opens in a new java applette, id much rather you just had the one, with multiple charts inside one workspace

Hi

I use ProRealtime, amd it's an excellent package.
I agree with Charlie that the way new charts open is a pain, which is why I still use QT for my charts. I use Pro for their scanning which is top notch in my opinion, easy to use, can scan for virtually anything you can think of and is dynamic real time, ie. no need to keep refreshing the results.

I've used it (eod) for a about 6 months now and I have to say it's impressive.

Agree with CharlieChan though, I would like to see all the charts in one workspace. Not a major gripe though

Just tried it and within 5 minutes it had frozen. Lost all my open IE windows trying to close it with Task Manager. Not for me thanks.

The tool appears to be written in java - I wouldn't suggest having many other apps/windows open at the same time as java apps tend to be hungry on memory. Take a look at FAQs, they have diagnostics tool to troubleshoot the problems although the it was never hung when I was running it (1GB memory dell laptop).

if you find it crashes, check that you have the latest JVM. Very convienent for occassional use on a laptop or someone elses machine. The fact that it is programmable is a big plus. Powerful filters. But CPU hungry.

Excellent charts. But their service can be dreadful! Takes an age for them to get back to you if you have a query. When time is money, not good.

(went back to work for a bank so have Reuters now and thus don't need it).

Did you get fed up with working from home GJ?

Prorealtime is pretty good, but when I did some real-time comparisons with other data feeds they were better/faster (the difference is quite marginal though), so I use an IB data feed for my charts.

how to (prorealtime)

Hi!
Anyone knows perhaps how to describe (in the Proscreener) that something is growing (or the contrary)?
Example: I'd like a simple screener for the stocks that have an ADX growing, or RSI, etc....
I tried to find other forums but the only that i found is in french (but for someone can be useful:

Thank you

Silvio

The customer service is pitiful. They take days to get back to you and despite promises of writing code etc. do nothing. i can't think of any other service in life you pay $300 a month for and have no telephone service or reliable feedback service atall.

Also the screeners are not applicable to futures because of 'customer requirements'.

If you can understand french there is a good website. I notice the French also have a telephone helpline - not so useful for the UK/US traders who have to email and wait for a reply, if one ever is forthcoming.

Also the prices for world index and FX have gone up from zero to a substantial amount. Not worth it in my opinion.

I also hate spammers....

Disappointed....

Hi Rols

Who do you use at the moment ??

millsy

I've used their EOD for several years. I think it's an excellent package. Even better that it's free

Hi Millsy

I've been trying out ensignwindows
if you wanna a serious headache try the learning curve on this mother
huge help site in muddled order (probably logical to a programmer)
plus continual connection problems to IB
windows freezing and still not able to get live charts refresh on FX
as for ESPL - I think I'd learn Japanese quicker
Funny thing I emailed softwaresupport asking about setting up a study and I got this reply. Silly me!

Here it is

None of us here at Ensign Software Support, Inc. are programmers either...

We have no idea how to setup, manipulate and/or fix an Alert, DYOS and/or ESPL script.
We support the immediate software only.
If customers want more technical information on setting up Alerts, DYOS and ESPL programming we refer them to our website for help in getting started.
Or if they are unfamiliar with programming (as are we) we refer them to our programmers so they can have them done for them.

Perhaps I'm getting old but what happened to the "welcome new subscriber, sorry to hear you are having problems, one of our team will contact you with some suggestions thank you for your custom blah blah"

On the plus side great charting possibilities - the ensign rockets are brilliant
but I think it's back to QT for now though I find the charts on MT4 the easiest and if want indicators you think of one and you'll find somebody has already written it

all good clean fun

I liked the charts on Prorealtime but for the money I reckon they could improve the customer service and get an english site running and provide some kind of API

I know somebody who has just sold his software company which he started from his back bedroom for £7 million.

I asked him what his edge was over everybody else selling accountancy software?
His reply. "A good product and superb customer service."
