Hey all,

does anyone here successfully make use of InteractiveBrokers and SierraChart to Chart IDEAL PRO Quotes I am getting really frustrated.

I think I am doing everything right, still SC is not plotting any graphs of the IDEALPRO
=> EUR.USD-CASH-IDEALPRO <=

Would be really greatful if someone could give me a hint on how to solve this dilemma.

Cheers,

I don't think that your problem has anything to do with Sierra charts. IB don't allow historical data for IdealPro, so you can't even look at a chart with their TWS interactive charts, so I guess that you've got no chance with Sierra.

You are using the right symbol and I can chart it with no problem at all.

Do you have the correct trading permissions with IB?

that's odd, I have the necessary trading permissions, but can't view any idealpro charts at all. Can you see them with TWS ? Or only Sierra ?

Thanks for your replies,

I am sure that it is somehow possible to retrieve the data from IB's TWS -> there are few frontend trading tools that can use the IDEALPRO feed.
I am sure that I have the trading permission and I am sure that I am receiving the feed in my TWS.
I know that it sounds odd, but I just can't understand why I cant graph the chart.
In case someone else knows what to do, don't hesitate, I am still open for suggestions.

Here is an example from IdealPro yesterday

In the past I know people have had to remove and renew the entitlement to IdealPro. Maybe that is the problem?

Thanks for your response again,

I never meant to question your statement above, however, interesting to see the proof.

I am sure that there is a reasonable explanation for this problem. However, I am stunned by the fact that it is not working for me. I just checked my IB account again, the results are as follows:

Market Data Subscriptions
+FOREX
--IB FX
--B FOREX

Trading Permissions:
+IB FOREX

All of them are checked.... however I cannot uncheck them.
In case you know why, please let me know.

Now... concerning the SC Version:

You are running v54
I am running v56

Any idea if there could be a bug in v56?

Thanks for your input.

Do you get the quotes on TWS?

Have you subscribed to SeirraCharts?

JonnyT

I get the quotes on TWS and I have subscribed on SC...
The error should not be here... Will have a chat with the IB and SC supports to see what is going on and how i can solve this dilemma.
Will post the results and a possible workaround.

Have a nice weekend,

A quick update on what I was told by the SC developer and API developers at IB.

Regarding my question how the API would read the incoming quote request from a 3rd party software, specifically the IDEALPRO datafeed.
=> EUR.USD-CASH-IDEALPRO <=

"You feed the currency you want as symbol, idealpro as the exchange, CASH as the type and the currency
you want to pay in as the "currency" field." - IB Technical Support

and

Regarding SC's problem, on my computer, to graph the EUR.USD-CASH-IDEALPRO datafeed:

"You will not have any problem getting a chart for that symbol. If you
try to get a quote for it on a worksheet using a quote request symbol
then it currently will not work. This will be corrected in version 57." - SierraChart Support

- My problem remains - :(

Greetings,

Thanks JohnnyT

problem must be lying with me.
Will be reinstalling SC in a couple of moments. Can you recall if you did any changes in SC to display the Forex quotes.

Did you make any changes to display Bid and Ask prices instead of Last prices?

Cheers

Hey all,

thanks to JonnyT,, I was able to pinpoint my problem and fix it.
It was as simple as it could have been. I had to enable the function Include bid and ask data as trades in intraday charts (IB only) !
This option can be found under Files...Data Source Settings

Hope this helps anyone encountering such problems in the future.

Thanks again to all you trying to help.
