Ive googled until my hearts content but I am wondering if there is a software application that collates macro-economic financial data and puts it into charts. Kinda like the sharecope of GDP and Unemployment?

If not, are there any good websites that update this information in a format that is more clear than going to individual websites and looking at excel spreadsheets?

Not that spreadsheets arnt fun :cheesy:

Bloomberg.... OOOOPs i ment to say an affordable solution :p

Im only a small investor at the moment, but trialling through economic data is hard to analyse in comparable to the ease of using a dedicated application.

If a solution doesnt exist then im thinking this is a killer business idea :D

I mean the Bloomberg website. If they don't have anything like that, I don't know where else you might look.

so far ive found these sites that are ok:

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/default.aspx
http://fxtrade.oanda.com/analysis/economic-indicators/united-kingdom

but flicking through them isnt as convenient as using sharscope. I mean how epic would it be if there was an application that would allow me to lay a company's imports over their exports and then compare that with other countrys each time fundamental economic date comes out. This would be some neat software (any buzzing entrepreneur programmers out there?)

Are you planning on becoming a media economics analyst or a trader?

Both actually. I trade, but also have a blog and like to write about economics. Why?
I was trying to get a handle on your request as it seemed a little overkill just for trading. Even for investing. Makes sense given your other interest.

You say in your OP that you’ve Googled for what you’re looking for which is all I have just done. So I assume econguru, economywatch, economagic, worldbank etc. don’t meet your needs.

Seems like there ‘should’ be something out there but maybe this isn’t the best part of the site to be asking.

Perhaps mods can advise?

Thanks for the reply, all of those sites are good and provide news stories or raw economic data. But im looking for more of a web or client application that readely collates the raw data and gives me charts and ideally tools and options with those charts... Kind like stockcharts.com but for unemployment, GDP, Inflation, Dollar Index ext

I have found one site and here is a video of it: http://www.screenr.com/Bj3

But the price for that is $99 per month

FRED does give you charts... In fact, most of the blu(ish) charts you see in various blogs come directly from FRED.

FRED has some doo-dah where you can pull data into MATLAB and stuffs, might work for excel too
