MT4 Strategy tester problems

Hi guys.

I cannot get this thing to go back beyond 28th Jan this year, no matter what dates I input.

It is the same for both of my MT4 accounts with different brokers.

Any idea what the issue is? Can't find a solution with a google search.

*EDIT* Ive just found that you can manually scroll back as far as you like and still use F12 to inch forward one bar at a time.

The method I stated in the edit is turning out to be far from ideal for a number of reasons.

Somebody reading this must have a few pointers?

ok I found out what needs to be done.

go to Tools /Options/chart and increase the max bars in history
Pick the highest number from the drop down menu and add many zero's at the end of it

Restart MT4 and it should now test from the date you've picked.

If in the tester's journal tab you get errors you can try loading fresh history by pressing F2 and loading historical data for the currency pair you are testing.

Restart MT4 and do the test again
