Chart Freeze

I am running Tradestation 8.6 build 2696 and Owndata 2.7. I have recently switched to using tick charts and am running 8 Emini tick charts opened on my layout. The problem I am having is the charts freezing up when the trading in the market picks up. As long as trading is slow they work fine as soon as trading gets busy the whole layout will freeze up then will suddenly catch up and print all the missed candles at once. I am sure I am not the only one who has had this problem. Does anyone know how to fix it? I have the Streaming Data Optimization ON in the network preferences...but I don't see any other settings that I can make. I had a 2 mps dsl speed and I changed services to cable and now have 7 mps speed which helped. I have a new computer with a Core 2 Dual processor and 4 gigs of ram running Windows X/P. I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong.

there are 3 problems:

1. your need a faster computer. I mean faster CPU clock, not multi-CPU.

2. TS is only a 32 bit program. It can't handle more memory.

3. TS is only a single core program. Adding more multi-core wouldn't help.

Until TS9 is out, there is not much more you can do.

7 mps internet is good. You shouldn't need more, because the datafeed is very compact. Even at volatile times, the amount of data, compared to a video or music, is not a lot. The freeze up is not because of the internet connection, but because the computer/program is inundated by the data. It appears frozen because it is trying its best to process the backlogged data.

The data freezes are due to internal caching and buffering issues that have finally been acknowledged by TradeStation and they are working on that solution currently. I expect drastic improvements in this area within the next couple months.

TS 9.0 is not fully multi threaded either at this point so nothing to gain there. It has the same processes running the same threads as before for the most part. Maybe down the road they will get there, but not yet.
