Lawrie Inman press & radio interviews

A friend kindly forwarded these files to me - excerpts from recent press & radio interviews with Lawrie Inman - a former grad scheme trader who's trading the bobl over at Marex Financial.

Pretty inspiring stuff IMO.

Cheers Arb',
Inspiring on the one hand, but a dangerous approach for those new to the markets to try and emulate. Comments in the newspaper article like "maxing out" on his home run trade suggests that he risked rather more on it than the usual 1-5% routinely advised on these boards! Also, his use of words like "buzz" and "excitement" suggest that his heart beat may fluctuate a tad throughout the trading day, which, at $10K a point, isn't surprising. Again, this is a far cry from the calm meditative state that some of the more experienced members of T2W advocate!
An interesting read nonetheless - thanks for posting.
Tim.

:cheesy: agreed

Notice to newbie traders: going a thousand up in the bobl over numbers is not a recommended approach to trading!

arabianights , surely that is really at the top end for independant prop traders. At banks prop desks they probs doing millions per day? but surely not a prop shop.

Lol funny you bring this thread up, a shifty looking guinea pig enthusiast at mine shouted at me "not even close mate" today, to which I said "what the ****?", and then they reminded me about this thread... and well I'm not going into more details but as I say $700 000 is nowhere near a record for one day in a prop house. When you think about it, say the average tick in a random instrument is about $20 - that's only 35 000 ticks. How can that be a record for a prop house?

I heard at least a couple of prop traders at Schneider netted over €1.6m each in about 45 mins over that 160 tick bund down spike a few months ago...

Arabian and arb i was just making assumptions, I dont work in a prop firm. 35000 ticks in one day is rather excessive isnt it?

A very good day for a big trader but not close to record breaking.

I'm not aware of anyone who makes anything like that daily and consistently though ;)

yer ofcourse. This is just lucky windfalls. But he must be a good trader so that he is allowed to trde that size

Yup - and prop firms are much stingier about limits now than they used to be I do believe.

Any reputable prop firm will give you enough limits to be able to blow yourself up in a day like that though, so not only does risk management need to be tight but you need to know when to use size. The opposite to most on t2w... I recommend big size only on big (and obvious) movements :)

sorry am late adding to this discussion, but $700K is not near the top of prop shop daily earners.

i have heard of individual prop traders using there own money making £700K (thats sterling) and thats being conservative.

yer but they must have insane amounts of money in the first place to risk trading that size

I heard something similar from someone who used to sit near him on the floor at Marex
