Hey guys,

I'm just looking for more information about trading in the UK, when searching on the net I nearly always find stuff for Americans. When I do eventually find trading job openings, websites etc, they are all aimed at experienced professionals or those who are willing to pay for training.

Quick background;
22 y/o, Finance & Investment Management Student, Graduate in 2016, Degree in Business Administration from Korean University.

Currently I am trading FX, I have been for a couple of weeks, I aim to continue this over the next year. When recording my results, is it necessary to be very detailed, providing clear reasoning why etc. Or is it more important to just show good results, with sound risk and money management.

With 12 months experience of virtual trading I would then look to be taken on by a company who could provide me with funds. Are there many companies taking on recent graduates in London? I don't have capital to back myself and I don't have capital to pay for training / the opportunity.

Is there much hope, or am I better off getting a job elsewhere to save the capital needed to trade myself?

Anybody who has gotten into trading this way, or are looking to do something similar? Would be great to talk.

Depends on what you want to do in trading. Do you want to work for a bank or an asset manager? Because these are 2 completely different things. If youre still in university which sounds like you are, apply for all relevant internships.

Track record trading your own money is a nice talking point in an interview but nothing more. Your chances of your track record getting you hired as a trader are next to zero, so youll be stuck with trading in the retail sector.

Again, all depends on what you want to do in trading

I am still in Uni yes. I will be applying for a number of internships this year.
You really think a trading record doesn't increase your chances that much? i thought it would make a huge difference.

As to exact discipline, I am not 100% sure. Although I do think asset management sounds more appealing.

So I should stop thinking of ways I can save up 500 quid to open a real account :p

You need to be sure 100% before you start applying for internships.

Yeah that would be wise. Reality is nobody will ever need your track record trading a retail account with technical analysis if you want to trade for a bank of an asset manager. Things work differently there.

First focus on finishing university at the top of your class. That's honestly what matters most.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for that GameBoy, although it was short and sweet that advice is invaluable to me. Yeah I'm going well at University so far, hopefully I can really push on in this final year.

Thanks again!
