I'm new and need a answer: where would one enter a trade on a crossover?Ex. a 8/21 crossover. thanks.

what market are you looking at? what time period?
if you are talking about moving averages and you are new to trading this is not a wise move,
moving averages can work if a market is trending(but should be use with other tools)if the market is in a trading range you are going to get punished severely

Moving averages by themselves are LAGGING indicators and CROSSOVERS are even MORE LAGGING!
The best indicator to use is a leading indicator such as SLOW STOCHASTIC WITH A MOVING AVERAGE!
the MA shows the TREND and the STOCH shows the RANGE!

Example Of Using Ma And Stoch

Only trade with the trend, higher lows or closing price above above 10M. The stochastic is used for a setup and trade is triggered on previous days high or low.

see chart

:D

EXIT trade on the morning of the THIRD DAY!

I want to trade the QQQQ when trending ,like it has been Aug 15 to now.And what oscillator would help with the entry?

i like ur post, simple and effective way to trade short term.descretion may be applied in selecting stock, which are having higher ATR.

one can use 8ma above 21ma to decide the trend(uptrend) and look for price to come below the 8ma and then buy when price is crossing highest high of previous two days.help of DI system may also be taken to further confirm the trend if needed.better to backtest coz MA system varies for defferent securities.

.............................Just trade off Yesterdays highs and lows and one would do ok
