Can anyone help with MACD settings for daily charts and why different settings work as opposed to the standard 12,26,9 setting.

Also Im trying to learn more about stochastics and can this be used in conjunction with MACD, does anyone have any success with a combination of the two?

Thanks

Hello trader uk
just a couple of thoughts, I can only change the signal line on Macd in my old version of Metastock but it is always a good idea to muck around with the setting on most of the indicators.
Different markets do breathe differently and by changing settings you can sometimes home in.

I don't use Macd for direction just the good ol simple moving average, but your Macd for direction and Stoch for overbought/over sold is a good combination and is well used by many.
Do try looking for divergence between them and price and not just their levels or direction that can give you some clues, and also if you are trading using daily signals look at them weekly as well, I have traded a daily Stochastic only to be caught out because the weekly opposed it,but it is all part of learning.

Good luck

STOCH slow 3 min blue line goes under red and also Yellow goes underneath blue of MA

STOCH slow 3 min blue line goes under red

and also Yellow goes underneath blue of MACD 1 min is the time to short. (Opp to buy)
