Average Daily Range

Hi Guys & Gals,

Currently trading the s&p and was wondering if there was anindicator that i could put on my charts that will tell me the ave daily range or do i have to just work it out myself.

I think the answer to this must be that it depends where you're getting your charts from. I use ProRealTime myself, and this is available on those charts as an indicator. I think it is with eSignal as well. Whose charts are you using?

the charts are in the deal4 free software but are also by prorealtime but the indicator is not available however it gives me the option to create it myself so if anyone knows wht the coding should look like pls post below

I see ... I didn't know that D4F charts were supplied by ProRealTime. Must be a sort of cut-down version, I suppose, if you can't add that indicator without creating it yourself. I don't know if you knew, but the full end-of-day charts from ProRealTime are free, and the streaming real-time charts are only about £30 per month for the full package of currencies and indices (but excluding the FTSE). I'm sure someone who uses D4F charts and knows more than I do will reply to you anyway, if you just hang on. If not, you could maybe try emailing D4F and/or ProRealTime and asking them. Sorry not to be able to answer you any better myself.

www.ProRealTime.com . I switched to it a few months ago following recommendations from other members here and am very happy with it.

Are you just looking for a period range figure, or some kind of indicator? The Average True Range (ATR) can be useful.
