MSc Thesis topics

Hi guys,

I'm about to start my dissertation for my Financial Maths MSc and am currently researching ideas to study. I just thought i'd see if anyone on here as any ideas of interesting potential research avenues surrounding technical analysis or alternative if anyone has any academic papers relating to TA which they can recommend as a starting point for developing ideas.

Check out Andrew Lo's work on the area, lots of papers.

Google can help you find a lot of stuff that's been written on the subject. As shakone says, Lo's work is quite well-known.

Hi Everyone,

First time poster here

I am doing similar work to James above and have completed my 10,000 word Literature Review and now have to start the 5,000 word contextualisation

Anyway I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me find relevant material for my contextualisation. What I am specifically looking for is Newsletters or published reports from large investment firms (or any other source) using technical analysis so as to link this back to my work done in the Literature Review; i.e. say if Bank of America Technical Analysis Deptartment Head Mary Ann Bartels published a report saying that Apple is currently a buy as it has bounced of the upternding line recently and found support at this crucial line, whilst the RSI is above 30 and moving upwards as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated with this

Irwin (2007) is a must read! Also Brock et al (1992) is really good starting point for MA and Breakout definitions and application

Recent books from Edwards and Kirkpartick have been really usefull for my Dissertation as well
