Can anyone who uses the IG Index platform please help?

I was using Explorer, then suddenly one day the advanced charts wouldn't open - all I got was a message saying "cannot create the Java virtual machine".

I switched to Firefox and everything was fine.

Until today. There was some kind of update or "install latest java version" notification, which I clicked on, but then it wouldn't open in Firefox either.

I've tried other browsers but it won't work in any of them. Been on to IG (very good actually - spent about 40 minutes on the phone trying to sort it out) but to no avail. They are now waiting to hear back from their chart provider, but this could take a few days.

Does anyone know what to do, or has anyone come across this problem before? It's definitely something to do with my PC at work - charts work fine at home.

Please help!

Undo the jave install by taking the computer back to before the install.

For some reason the java update is not working for the IT charts at the moment.

I wonder if that's what's happened to me. If I try to open Prorealtime at work (no problem at home) all Explorer just closes. Rather tediously I can't call the IT department to fix it because I can't find a work-related reason.

The same thing has happened for a month or so at investir.fr

The basic charts at IG no longer use Java.....perhaps the advances are the same?

No, advanced still uses Java, although as you say the basic ones don't. I could get along with those OK, but they tend to freeze up.

Looks like I'll have to wait for them to get back to me (system restore didn't work, neither did installing an older version).

I have in the past had to resort to an earlier version of java - think it was 6.11. Ensure that all java/sunmicrosys stuff is deleted first and do a fresh install.

I have a problem with IG's new adv charts. They will not save after more than about 40 minutes. A facility to email the problem emerges on screen, and basically asks to describe the problem.

IG actually use 3rd party software - IT Finance (based in France I think). IG are generously accomodating on the phone, but their hands are tied because they rely entirely on the IT Finance developers. Getting frustrating now.

Anyone got same problem?

Any magicians around? TIA

It's resolved now. IG were very helpful.

If you have a problem, you need to completely remove all traces of Java, then reinstall. Uninstalling is not enough on its own - there are lots of bits and pieces of Java hidden here and there on your computer.

I did a search and deleted / removed everything that came up under "Java". Now works fine.

I now have a problem since the upgrade for IG advanced charts(which they upgraded on the 18th).

I can get the software to load up but it can't save or load any templates.

I have spoke to IG and they tell me everything is ok their end but this is on all 3 of my computers!!!

I have double checked all browser settings and uninstalled java etc etc.

Major headache...

Anyone else having the same trouble?
