Been using it for the last couple of weeks. Seems to have the best bits (once you've set up all the options) of Google Chrome and Firefox without any of the awkwardness of Internet Explorer. Works faster than Firefox for me - also has options for non-PC kit.

Nice interface, especially the "speed dial" feature. Worth a look if you like playing. Opera Browser | Faster & safer Internet | Free Download

Does it have add-on capabilities like Firefox which are excellent in my view ?

Depends what you want - so far it seems to do everything I required of firefox but a bit better - I'm still exploring. I'm not sure it has the large range of plug-ins that firefox does - but many of those are a bit gimmicky. Don't think it has anything like Zotero but that has its limitations anyway.

I quite like the way it handles cookies - it's a bit all or nothing with Chrome and although Firefox is very good at this, Opera gives slightly more automatic options which keeps the dross out without having to be in a permanent state of mouseclick.

I suppose it's a bit like charting software - all a bit of a 5 minute wonder!

I must admit I treat browsers a bit like choosing my socks or pants for the day - depends what comes out of the drawer!

You read my mind. Opera sounds great. IE8 bugged the sh$$ out of me, Chrome was fast, but disappointing otherwise and Firefox was my favorite. I may try opera now as long as there are no compatibility issues.

The nicest thing about Opera (Opera mini) is that it works brilliantly on my Android phone and it's a real whizz at handling the mobile versions of the websites that I use.

A must try, IMO.

Cheers

Tip - If you're want import your bookmarks from Firefox in bulk, import them as IExplorer bookmarks, i.e. as favourites.

PS Just heard that there's a new version of Firefox for Android on the way - there's more here: http://is.gd/dPoh7

Mobile Opera is useful because of image compression on Opera servers before you download it into your phone, which makes opera very fast browser on mobile phone. On desktop it is not so simple. They are fast, almost as Chrome, nice features, but many bugs not fixed for years and plenty of websites are not rendered correctly. I like Opera, but I had to switch to Chrome for speed, security and flexibility due to nice unobtrusive extensions. Opera is just too unreliable.
